I couldn't make it to the ride afterall. Thanks alot (Mr. Employer). I will be here at the office on Saturday to oversee the testing of new component we had built. This never fails me. Things like this has happens more time then not: July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years day, Labor Day, Memorial day. I swear every friggin time grrr###@! Last year I almost couldn't make it to marin county holestein 100 ride. AND YES, LIKE MY MOTHER ALWAYS TOLD ME: BE A GOOD GIRL. SO I SHOW UP TO WORK ON CHRISTMAS DAY (MY MOTHER-IN-LAW WAS FURIOUS AT ME), NEW YEAR DAY, THANKSGIVING... YES I'VE WORKED ON ALL THOSE HOLIDAYS!!

Anyway, taking a breather, I offered my slot/space here but no takers and thats okay. So I posted on SLOBC.org web site for sale and someone bought it, paid for it by Paypal. Now paypal says its not cleared till Oct. 1-5. ahh HELLOOOO.... the ride is for tomorrow.

I sent my confirmation letter to the buyer and notified SLOBC. Do I have a choice? not really. I just hope the buyer is legit and honest. If he isn't, well I would be out of the money but if I didn't sell then I'm still out. So like, I really have a choice. Just have to take my chances. I think you would have done the same.

Well I hope he has a good ride.
thank you for yet another vent.

Smilingcat,

Have you considered a change of employers? Your situation there just doesn't sound healthy. :( I have had every holiday off since I've been working at my employer (1985). I have never had to work Thanksgiving, or Christmas, or even very many weekends. Life is too short.

I'm sorry you had to cancel your event. Hope the Paypal buyer is fine, at least! I have never had a transaction paid for by Paypal not go through, by the way, and I sell quite a bit on ebay.

Take care of yourself!

+1. Do you have kids? Sounds like they schedule you on those days because everyone else has "a family." Excuse me, but I have "a family" too--ME!! Now you're the go-to person for holiday and weekend work. Can you talk to them and try to change their perspective? Remember, you can always say NO. "No, I am not available to work that day." PERIOD. No reason needed.

Best of luck and I hope you get your money from PayPal.

PayPal has a dispute center where if the money does not come through, you can file a dispute and try to get your money from PayPal.

What kind of field are you in?
