Hi ladies,
I will be visiting the San Diego area this week and expect/hope to have some time to ride early in the day on Friday. I will be renting a bike from the hotel/spa/fitness center and have no idea what types of bikes they have, or how well they will fit me. Also, I don't know the area very well (or at all). I will be staying in Rancho Bernardo and am wondering if any of you are from around there are can recommend some nice routes, scenic, with minimal traffic, that won't kill me if I am on a bike I am not used to. I generally ride 25-50mi at a time 3-5 times/week, and haven't done much climbing in a while.
Thanks for any suggestions!!!!

Hi chicagogal! There is a bike path off the 56 that is protected from traffic but runs along the freeway. It's pretty flat and from start to finish is about 18 miles.

We usually park at Camino del Sur in the parking lot (near Albertson's and Peets coffee shop - corner of Camino del Sur and Highlands Village Dr.) and you can get on the bike path from there. A lot of people ride it but it's not too busy. PM me if you have questions on how to get there but here's the map of where we park. The trail goes almost all the way to the 5 on the coast (you have to get off the main path to get to a trail but there's usually someone on it to help you).

Great shop, also they will have plenty of ride info.
