I commuted to work today on my utility bike. I am on call and need to transport my works laptop with me so I have bought a padded sleeve to protect it when in the pannier. It survived the journey home on Friday but today was the first time I would be taking it both ways. As I wasn't on the road bike I took it steady, this bike with loaded pannier(s) doesn't lend itself to bursts of speed its more steady as she goes.

It was a lovely autumn morning but actually pretty chilly to start with and that coupled with the bike meant I didn't arrive at work in my usual sweaty mess, which as it turned out was good thing. I was just about to step into the shower when it hit me, I hadn't packed my towel or my hair turban thingy the night before!!!!! I've never forgotten them before, the reason I pack my stuff the night before is so I don't forget things....I was too hung up making sure I had the laptop.

As I wasn't really sweaty and I'd had a shower before going to bed last night due to running last night I had a quick wash in the sink and liberally applied deodorant and hoped I'd get away with it, which I did.

To cap it all I had also picked up a pair of OH's black socks rather than my own! They were mostly hidden by my trousers but what could be seen kept wrinkling. I had managed to remember the rest of my clothes ok though.

It's been a long time since I've forgotten something that crucial!

Sounds like the day of forgetfulness for you. ;) At least you remembered your trousers. It would've been quite a sight with you in your OH's socks and your bike shorts.

I bring my clothes to work on the occasions that I drive, usually several days worth of clothes so they're there, and I don't have to think about it. Today, I went to get dressed, and discovered I had no shirt. Luckily, it was cool here (I didn't get too sweaty on the ride), so I wore my jersey all day.

In the past I've forgotten underwear, which was worse (I'll leave my solution to that problem to your imagination).
