I went to my favorite LBS today to shop for my secret sister, and I came out with a little something for myself, too...

When I got home, Hubby and I took a little spin around town. This is a serious upgrade from my Schwinn DBX! It has all Ultegra components, and I had them put on black Crank Bros Candy pedals, and a new bike computer. This is one zippy little bike! The shifting is snappy and it rides SO smooth. I'm taking it in later this week to get shims put on the brakes so I can reach them when I'm in the drops (something I wasn't able to do with my Schwinn). Heck, maybe I'll actually RIDE in the drops now that I'll be able to reach the brakes! All that needs to be changed is the saddle. Hopefully Brooks has some black B67's in stock.
It'll take a few rides before I stop looking for my interrupter brakes. I was reaching for those a few times on tonight's ride. Ooops, they're not there!
Best of all, this bike was on clearance for not too much more than I bought my Schwinn for in 2006!
I can also see some pink accessories further down the road...hehe!

Oooh! Very nice! Did they throw in the pug too? Just kidding, I know how excited he/she (I'm sorry I forgot and I asked once before!) gets about your new bikes. Did you force him to pose or did he just wander into the picture???
No kidding, that is a beautiful bike! Gosh, if you picked that up on the side, what on earth did you get your secret sister? Maybe I should have signed up this time...
And a black brooks? Perfect!

I'm a contestant on the Secret Sister. Can I have your pug? ;)

Yeah...I think I'll keep the pug. We're kind of attached to her. :p We actually have an appointment for an interview to start Pet Assisted Therapy training with Dove-Lewis in Portland. I forgot who pointed me in that direction, but it was someone here on the board. Whoever it was, thanks!! :D
She wasn't all that enthused about posing because it was almost dinner time. But I asked her and she did it anyway. She's such a good dog!
I finally found a Brooks B68 on Amazon, of all places! Seems like everyone is out of the black. I checked all of the usual sites before I did a google search for it. Success!

I was thinking about throwing my name in for Secret Sister, but I just plain forgot. I'm notorious for going shopping for gifts and winding up buying stuff for myself. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't sign up for Secret Sister... I probably would have walked out of my LBS with a Madone or something, haha.
Anyway, the point of all that is this: beautiful bike! I think the white/black combo on bikes is just so snazzy...

Thanks! I like it, too, because it's very accessorizable (is that a word???). I can see either pastel pink or blue bar tape, cages, and tires. It'll be like a new bike each season! :D:D:D

I do love a good deal. However, hubby was kind of surprised. You should have heard the phone call I made from the LBS..."You did WHAT?!?!"

Nice pug! And the bike is very nice too! I do that at the holidays too - I go shopping for people on my list and end up getting cool stuff for me as well. Argh. Can someone tell me about the secret sister thing? Sounds interesting.

Usually every few months someone steps up to organize a secret sister gift exchange. There's a theme (this time it's high-vis stuff since winter is on the way). The organizer then takes all the names and puts them in a bag and shakes them up and divvies them out (ok...not sure if they actually do the bag thing, but that's how I would do it). Then you get to go shopping. The amount recommended to spend is between $10-20 usually, but it's up to you how much you want to do. You send out the stuff to your secret sister and you get something from the gal that's your secret sister. You don't have to tell who you got, but it's fun to see everyone guess, and it's nice to get a little something in the mail. :D

Nice! I better take my husband along when I go shopping or I might get that mountain bike I have been drooling over. Nahhh I can't justify it to myself- yet. Sounds like a steal and with the beautiful neutral paint job you can really accesorize, although she looks so elegant and fast in black and white!
When I got my road bike and was taking the required photo to say "new bike!" my little Heidi wandered into the picture. There was the bike and the little Schnauzer rear-end. :p She would never sit still to pose though, she is a stubborn one.

Funny thing is...I asked hubby to go along, but NOOOOO, he wanted to study for an upcoming certification test for work. The nerve! ;)

Awww, I love schnauzers. We had a standard sized one in one of the obedience classes Frankie and I took. They look like great dogs!

I learned a very important lesson this summer--live like you're dying. DO get that mtb, even if you don't think you are worthy of it.

Mine aren't, at least in the obedience arena but they shower us with love. One is a blind rescue so she gets away with some stuff. And Heidi (the photo crasher) she is the most stubborn dog ever. She knows what to do but darn if she is going to. For example 99% percent of the time you tell her "Heidi get in your bed" to get her into the laundry room/kennel so you can go to work and she does. Then one day she just looks at you like you can go to heck she is happy where she is (usually napping on the couch or on my pillow). But they are fun! We have two very unruly pugs that roam our neighborhood. Neither owner seems to think they need to stay in their yards. One keeps pooping in my shrub bed but he is so sweet when I am out there. I worry he will get hurt always crossing the street.:(

Enabler. :pIt is on sale too, but $2100 hasn't magically appeared in my bank account.
