So I'm buying a bike on craigslist. I found a basically new DiamondBack mountain bike (campus bike) for $75.

1. do you think that it's too much
2. they are located an hour away... is it worth it?
3. am i crazy?

Too much depends. If the bike doesn't fit your intentions for it or if it needs new parts such as wheels then $75 could be too much. If it's truly nearly new or well cared for (more likely for an 18 speed than nearly new, I think) and you need something to tool about on an entry-level bike could be perfect.

I'm not overly familiar with Diamondbacks and the ad wasn't very specific. The blurry picture of the bike itself appears to be either an older style or one of their entry level versions. A little more research might be in order.

Wow. I'm guessing the "turn an old bike into a fixie" trend hasn't hit where you are. If a bike has a 1/2 decent frame and can be ridden home from the seller's location (shop or house) then it goes for around $400 here.

So I say no, it's not too much.

Diamond back makes lower end "real" bikes. Solid but inexpensive. Meaning, they sell them at bikes shops and not walmart.

Thank you all for your input. I found a Gary Fisher Tarpon for $75 that is located only 15 minutes away. (The other bikes were almost an hour away) It's a 2001 and i think that i'm going to ask for 50 bucks instead.
