I finally brought home my very first road bike! I *hear* it's a requirement to post pics of new bikes! I posted a few weeks ago when I was trying to decide on a bike and the prediction was that this is the one I would end up with. :)

It seems most refer to their bikes as 'her'...this one seems more like a 'him'.

Congrats on your beautiful new bike! And he definately looks like a “he”. I wanted to name Spirit with a guy name but she is a deep, dark purple and is a woman’s bike so she is a “she”. My car “Hawk” (former FHP patrol car) is definately a “he” cuz he still has his spotlight and pusher bars and is painted all black. Here’s to many healthy, happy miles with your new bike and let us know what you name him!

Very nice!

And I agree about "him". My bike is girly but tough so I named her Dara (she just got some pink handlebar tape so everyone knows it). My truck is "Leroy" cause it's badarse. Hee!

Thanks everyone! He is definitely hot! He still doesn't have a name but I'm thinking about it.

I also have road shoes/pedals on this new bike and the clipless on my FCR. I went out tonight on 'him' for the sole purpose of practicing getting in and out of these new pedals. Well, I stink at it!!! How long will it take to get this - will it ever be as easy as the clipless/mtb set-up?!?! I feel like such a dork!

Do what I did when learning the clipless curve pedal thingy.....practice indoors on the carpeted floor holding onto the back of something (chair, sofa), practice, practice, practice just get used to clipping in and out and decide which foot you're going to use as the one you unclip first when coming to a stop. Get used to doing THAT. When you feel like it's second nature go outside and ride!

Have fun and remember we've all fallen there is a learning curve but you'll get it, just cushion your fall so you don't scratch up the bike!!!!:D
