OK, here are the results from last week (week 2), without reports from jesvetmed, firenze11, limewave (might be injured??), and SadieKate. A red box means injured. Three names disappeared because there was no report for day 3 of week 1. Let me know if you are one of those three and just forgot to get me your numbers...

We're down a little bit from the first week due to extenuating circumstances. No worries...week 3 will be tough, but we can do this and beat week 1! Keep on PUPin'!

Hokey smokey, this week is starting out tough!
Yeah, I'm thinking that I'll be lucky just to make the minimum maximum. I'm gearing up for day one as I type...hydrating, Om-ing. I'm just a little worked at the moment from an intense work-related blood pressure spike (aka management screwed up and I had to fix it) and then I'm tired from the weekend. Ad nauseum. Sound like a bunch of excuses??
Edit: OK, I just did my set and oh.my.goodness! I am worked! Eked out 29 on the max set. Barely.
Just curious: for those of us that are re-doing week 2, where should we post our results for day 3? Back in the week 2 thread?

I got busy at school and missed most of week 2 can I re-do along with the other re-doers? I'm still going to do this, I'm determined!
Also if I'm being a pain in the bum w/ my delinquent pups, I can do it alongside of you all. I don't want to anger the PUS!

Okay, I am still in Group 2 and scared! I did 23 on my max out test though so I should be able to do this. No, I WILL BE ABLE TO DO THIS! :D

Ouch!!! That was tough!! I'm on column one b/c I could only do 16 on my exhaustion test.....
Today was going well until my max set. It was supposed to be 15 but I face planted after 14.....I just couldn't do it. I'm doing straight back pups, no knees. I'm considering going to knees for maybe the last 2 sets.....I don't know though.
I'm off schedule this week so I'm doing Tues, Thurs, and Sat. I should be able to get back to M, W, F next week....

I'm re-doing week 2, but in column 2 this time. Week 3, column 1 was just too much of a jump.
Today: 9+8+6+4+9 = 36
I don't care if it takes me 12 weeks.....I'm gonna reach 100! :D
EDIT: BTW, thanks to OakLeaf for the most excellent idea to repeat at a higher level. It worked great last night!

For you and Becky, I'd just record whatever you do in the week 3 column on the spreadsheet. I don't think it matters all that much!
I suspect once we get to the end of the 6 weeks, we'll go for round 2. Who knows...this could go on, and on, and on...

I'm here again! Sorry... out of town from Thur to Tuesday. I DID do my pushups, despite being at the Breast Cancer 3-Day 60 mile walk. I have to say, I took some FLACK for that! Hoots and hollars as I did pushups after the first 20 mile day, "Isn't 20 miles enough for you?!". I just smiled, waved and said, "NO! " :p
So, my day 3 was: 78. I didn't take the schedules with me, so I winged it: Did 15/15/12/10/26. I guess I should look and see how it compares to what I was supposed to do!

Everyone take another look at the plan! It has been edited.
Most notably for us this week, you're not doing so close to your max on day 1 of week 3. Seems to me that's a good idea especially with all the concerns everyone has expressed about the big jump between weeks 2 and 3. But there have been changes every week (I haven't looked at them all yet.)

Well shoot.....maybe I can do week 3 now that the 2 --> 3 jump has been lessened....

Everyone take another look at the plan! It has been edited.
Overall, I'd say the new week 4 is tougher...going from a max of 29 on the 3rd day (old plan) to a max of 40 (new plan). I suspect I'll be dropping down in that week. Yikes.
I haven't looked beyond week 4. Do I want to?
So I didn't see the post about the change until after I tried to do day 2 of the plan and failed miserably. I had to step down to column 1 of the original plan and then couldn't even do that! So now I've taken a look at the new version and just added an extra set so that my total for the day came out to the minimum for column 2, day 2. I'll give column 2, day 3 a shot on Friday. If I can't get it I may have to drop down for week 4...

Yeah... I think calling it a 6 week plan was not very realistic for most people. People would probably feel more successful if it were a 10-12 week plan starting out, rather than making it almost inevitable that people will have to repeat weeks (which has a negative psychological connotation).
So y'all... DO feel like you've succeeded if you've increased the number of pups you can do! DON'T feel like you've failed if you have to step down a column and/or repeat several weeks!

This is difficult to do in conjunction with my normal weight workouts. I don't want to do them both on the same day, but then my recovery time is shot if I do one one day and the one the next. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe I need to scale things back on my weight workout.

I don't have a separate weight workout :o (I know I should, I NEED one!) But I'd recommend doing them on the same day and then decreasing your regular workload of the primary muscles used in the push-ups (pecs, triceps, anterior delts). Then you still get a full weight workout and have a rest day in between.

I was teaching a course (Mon/Tues), drove 1.5 hours home but I stopped along the way at a workout place (20 min from home) that I want to try for the next 2 months. Did a hideous workout with kettlebells and running (my legs were throbbing when I left that gym). It was 9:00 p.m. when I got home and 10:00pm when I remembered  that I had to do the !!##*! PUPS. Struggled, but did them and fell asleep for about 30 minutes beside the vanity in the MBR.
I just look at the plan when I need to do those PUPS, don't want to fret about it. (after reading these posts, I'm fretting...but not looking!:D)

Well, I just did the modified version of week 3, day 2 for column 3. It is overall 5 less pups than the "original" version.
I'm going to try to stay in my group but repeat weeks if I feel I need to.
I think maybe starting next week I'll have the PUS hide the "min goal" row on the spreadsheet. I think the important thing is that we keep going, regardless of whatever column or week we are in. I like having a program to follow; helps keep me focused. But I'm not going to get too worked if I get off the program. None of us should worry about that!!

Pups are resistance training, just like weight training. Can you modify your weight workout to have less emphasis on those same muscle groups? I do quite a bit of weight training in the winter as well as pups...but my weight training usually focuses on other areas. For me, the pups cover most of what I need for upper body.
SadieKate has heard me say it before: my personal experience is that the two best exercises in the world if you don't have a lot of time, access to a facility, or are dealing with crappy weather are pushups and sets of long wall sits. Throw in crunches, too, if you have time.
Thank you for alerting me to the revisions! I now feel more confident about being able to move on and complete week 3. It'll still be tough, but I think I can do it.
As for my goals, I'd like to complete the plan, but I don't care how long it takes me. I'm already pleased with the progress I've seen so far, and I'd like to see how far I can go with this.

ugh... spent my "rest" day today doing community service with the bike club, clearing storm damaged trees and breaking two beaver dams to get the water off the bike path. And I still have to teach a half cardio/half strength class tonight. Pups tomorrow are going to be fun :rolleyes:

Today was supposed to be day 2 for me, but nope....giant FAIL here. I got down on the floor to do my pups, looked at DH, and said, "nope, it's not happening". I've just been so physically worn out and mentally frazzled lately....this week may be a washout. :(

Day 3, Week 3: 127!
That 30 was tough.
I am glad I finally went to the website and looked at everything. After weeks 2, 4 and 5 there are exhaustion tests where you wait a couple of days after day 3 of the previous week and then do PUPs to exhaustion. How many you do determines what column you start on the next week. I guess that means I will need to go from a MWF plan to THS those weeks in order to give myself a break between day 3, the exhaustion test, and day 1. If that isn't right, someone please tell me how I am supposed to do it!
I can't believe I can do this many PUPs, even not consecutively!
Day 3, Week 2 repeat: 10+10+8+8+10=46! I can't tell you how hard those last 10 were. Heck, I was even struggling to get the second set of 8. I told my friend I've never been able to do that many in a day, let alone a 10 minute span.

(which is the only muscle I could think of that starts with "G," but also one of the only ones that DIDN'T hurt after today's pups  - although I'm sure they were working a little to stabilize my legs!)

Oh my that hurt! I tested in group two still but wow, I barely was able to do the max set. I guess that is why they call it a challenge. Ooofff!
Even worse I told my husband that since I am only able to do the knee pups, I will repeat the challenge with the toe style. Eeek.
So I had to drop down to column 1, halfway through today's set. So I'm a combo of columns 1 and 2, week 3, day 3: 70 pups.
I'll be in column 1 for week 4.

Week 3 Day 3 = 22+30+20+20+28 = 120!!! Oh.my.goodness. My arms are now so sore/tired that I can barely lift a beer to my lips. Barely, but the heroic struggle is worth it. :)
I think I'll repeat week 3 next week. This week was really hard and I need to consolidate a bit before moving on.

I'm so embarrassed. :o I missed this week due more busy school stuff and now a nasty cold. I think I'm going to start this all over with week one on Monday (I should feel much better by then), I feel like I've let too much time to go by and really want to focus on form. But I don't want to mess up the chart so you can take me off. Can I still come by for coaching if I need it?

Yes, that was a BIG jump for everyone this week. For those of you that repeated weeks or dropped down a little, you still did SUBSTANTIALLY more pups than you did on day 3 last week. Everyone is doing a great job!
I did my day 3 today as I was camping over the weekend and was hindered by (1) dirt, (2) alcohol, (3) too much food, or (4) a combination of the previous 3. I went back to the original plan for day 3. Not sure what I'm going to do for next week yet (repeat week 3 or attempt to move on). I do suspect, however, that there could be some sabotage at the end of week 4 and into week 5 as I'm going to visit the PUS and I'm sure she will (a) ride my legs off AND (b) make me drink too much of that Deschutes beer!

You mean the very absent PUS? I gotta get caught up. With all the travel last week and finishing up mini-storage, I'm totally discombobulated. Plus, my left wrist is acting up again for no known reason.
Yellow, have you been doing the spreadsheet? Where do I need to pick up? GD wrist . . . .
Wow. I'm grateful the plan was edited.
My parents were visiting all week and we did LOTS of things but few pushups. I did do some sort of an in-between-week-2-and-week-3 on Wednesday morning, and I got my husband to do the full week 3 day 1 set for me while I did about 25% less. :) My mom and dad did a few too, that was pretty cool.
So the bottom line is that I will be starting week 3 next week. I'll keep reporting my progress. :)
Great job everyone! I'm glad at least a few of us could manage!!

Week 3/Day 3 - 91. Wasn't pretty.
I've been doing these crossfit classes this week. Couldn't walk for 2 days after the first class. Then can't lift my arms for 2 days after the second. (whine, whine) My coach inserted some ##@!* push-ups into one of my regular gym work-outs. (a circuit no less, so 3 sets of them!) I've looked at a lot of floor this week.:D

Those of you working with a coach or trainer, have you told them you're doing this program??? It's hard to understand why they would have you doing MORE pups (or too much of any chest/tricep/anterior delt work) on your "rest" days.

I just looked at what is ahead for week 4, I started to cry. My shoulders are still tight from week 3 but we are half way there!!
Anyone have plans to keep pushups part of their fitness routine? I want to try to do 100 pushups 3x a week to help with upper body and core strength. I can't believe I just put that out there.
So the CyclePUPs will have moved on to week 4 but I am stuck in week 3 for failing to do my PUPs last week.
Did Week 3 Day 1 (Column 1) this morning as a "reward" for doing my writing session first thing in the morning. 10 / 12 / 7 / 7 / 11 = 47, pretty cool stuff. My arms are shaking a bit though.

Week 3 completed: OUCH!!!!
I did 122. The last 6 I must admit, were on my knees. But up till then I was up on the toes. Oh my... so glad I get 48 hrs to rest from that!
A gal I work with came to work and told me I motivated her to try real pushups... she was so excited b/c she did ONE on her toes! I had to gloat... "Ask me how many I did this morning!"... ONE HUNDRED AND ONE! She couldn't believe it. Neither can I!:D
It's amazing what we all have accomplished in upper body strength in the last 3 weeks! We are STUDS! ;):p
I haven't looked yet at week 4.. I'm VERY afraid.

That's so funny! I was trying to decide how to maintain after this (if THIS ever ends!). 2-3x / week of 50-75 is what I figured would be good. I do some of this at boot camp when I make it anyway, so I figured that would be enough! I may change my mind once I can do 100 -- may not want to lose that. Bragging rights, if nothing else!:D

Well I am doing the knee ones but it is still hard! Eventually I want to push myself to complete the challenge on my toes but I could only test out at one when we started this.
