Not to lighten how serious the storm was, I have friends in Beaumont that do not know when they are heading home or even if they have a home. This is miniscule in comparsion to that and my friend's from the Houston/Gulf area upcoming weeks/months/years.
My husband has been super excited about his first Mountain Bike race in over 3 years scheduled this weekend at Huntsville State Park. It has been all he can talk about, he has been doing some riding with his friend who is a category higher racer and was really confident. We booked our campsite and he was so pumped for Sunday. This morning I got a call that Huntsville State Park received damage in the hurricane and will be closed until September 28 for clean up. No race, no camping. I haven't spoken to DH this morning to tell him. :(
And to always find a silver lining, we will go camping at Pedernales Falls State Park in the lovely hill country which has a 7.5 mile easy to medium mountain bike trail. But no race for my husband.
