I don't commute much -- don't work much! -- and when I do, I"m either carrying tons of stuff, driving for hours to my destination, or a combination of the two. DH does though -- and he's gone from grudgingly riding to really lovng to ride his bike.

Today, on his way home from work, riding across the entrance to the mall, some young woman clipped his back wheel as she was turning into the entry road. He said he didn't fall, and had only minor damage to the wheel, but she didn't stop until he started yelling -- and then he felt badly about scaring her by reacting the way he did. Poor guy!

So, he went zipping the rest of the way home and got out his tools, to fix the wheel! Told me in the sort of off-hand manner that likened the episode to waiting for a red light to change...

(and he says _I_ can't ride in that area. _I_ have not been hit by any cars ever. this is his second in 40-some years)

It is funny how guys can be so indifferent to things! Glad your husband is okay though.

When my husband and I moved in together we were still students, I would take the bus to campus and he would ride his bike. TWICE he got hit by the same (!) girl coming out of the ritzy condos next door. He would tell me about it and say "Eh, she pulls out slow, doesn't hurt".

He was not as indifferent when he ran into the back of a parked (!) 18 wheeler and sprained his wrist. He was going on and on "why did he park in the bike lane, is that legal? That is stupid, he shouldn't have been parked there". Uhhhhh how do you NOT see an Semi? :p

I'm glad he's OK. See, that's a nice guy who yells at a driver for hitting him (a legitimate response), and then feels bad for scaring her. I like him already.

Men are funny like that. I'd get hit by a car (no matter how fast it was going) and I'd probably go on and on about it in true drama style. :D
