I took my kids to a race that I participated in last weekend. Well, I took the 8 and 11-year-old since the 13-year-old had other plans. We picked up 2 cowbells and the kids had so much fun! They want to go to more races. The riders loved it (including me) as they were just back from the final push to the finish line. I would like to add one more noise maker. We have 2 different sizes of cowbell, but would like something different to accompany. What creative thngs have you all seen at events? I'm pretty new to racing but if I can tell the kids to stand at a certain point and make as much noise as possible, we're on to a good thing!

Thanks!
Andrea

I guess bagpipes are out of the question. :)
I've seen that at the Philly distance run and the DC AIDS ride years back. Makes plenty of noise, for sure!

A little girl on the side of the road of the livestrong ride in Philly was playing her triangle. Not sure if that is the volume you were going for though.

Where'd ya get the cowbells, I need to pick some up myself!

Bagpipes, now that is unique!! Might try a triangle. I suppose if it was large like in the old days, like when they called the boys in from the fields for dinner ;).

The local farm supply store had cowbells. Go figure. Very inexpensive.

Ratchets are popular here. They even hand out plastic freebies now and then.

That's the great thing about cycling races - they're quiet so you can hear the cheers!

Go to a local music instrument store and hit up their small percussion section. :D

-- gnat! (slide whistles and tambourines and and and...!)

My husband blasted a friend with one and it scared the living daylights out of him--and me!

There was a woman with maracas at my last triathlon.
