About those pre-rides...

My latest adventure was riding in a mountain bike XC race. I noticed there are opportunities to do a pre-ride the day before the race but unfortunately, I won't be able to take advantage of most of them. So how crazy is it for me to just show up and ride?

It would probably be nice to know what to expect as far as gearing.
I hate those hills that suddenly jump up out of nowhere.

is there any opportunity for you to see the course except for the day before?

Zen, most of these courses are several hours away so it's not real accessible to me. I did find a book about Arkansas trails that will hopefully give me some idea. It's interesting how opinions vary so much on the description of the trail. :eek: One calls it easy, another calls it technical. :rolleyes: I go in thinking they will all be difficult. :)
