Hi everyone!
I thought that since we are recording our weight weekly, maybe we could also record our exercise time. This will help keep me accountable.
Anyone else in?
Last week (not so good for me):
Tuesday-10 mile bike ride
Friday- 2 miles on treadmill
Saturday- 2 miles on treadmill
This week will be better.

I will join you!
Tuesday- Ran 2.8 miles, about 32 minutes, pushups for the challenge, abs
Wednesday- Ran 3.2 miles, about 37 minutes
Thursday- Ran 3.2 miles, about 38 minues, pushups for the challenge
Saturday- About 1 hour of mountain biking with breaks because I was having confidence issues. Pushups
Sunday- About 2 hours of mountain biking with breaks for cross training (walking the bike) and trying to figure out obstacles.
The bad thing about mountain biking is I am not good enough yet to continuously go. I have to stop to catch my breath or assess an obstacle. Last week was just so-so because the weekend was not a very hard workout set.
And I stepped on the scale and gained this morning. Of course I am sick with a stomach issue causing me to be MAJOR bloated and I will use that as my excuse!

Do you wear a HRM when you mtb? I would consider myself primarily a roadie whose mtb convert lately due to my disgust with the "saddle search". BUT, I was amazed when I wore my monitor on the trail with all the dismounts etc. STILL how many calories I burned:cool:. At first, I decided I really didn't need to wear my HRM on the trail like my road bike because I thought, "well, I'm slow as a turtle, so what good can this really be doing me, even though I'm sweating like a pig... what? what a minute... ding ding, sweat=burn... add it up!". Actually, I took both my mtb and road camping over last holiday w/e and I burned more on my trail rides than my road:o. Maybe it's the motivation to not bite a tree?:D fwiw... :)

Not yet but my Timex watch broke and I have plans to get a Polar watch to replace it sooner than later. So hopefully I will be investing in one in the near future.

So I started fitness Boot Camp yesterday morning and I can barely walk today. I guess that means it's working!!! :p
I don't know how I am going to get through tomorrow's BC if I can barely walk today! I am going to take it easy tonight on the bike, something like10-12 miles to work out that crazy lactic acid! My quads, calves, abs, and triceps are screaming at me!

Isn't boot camp great?!
I love that feeling -- sounds like you guys do more lower body than we do -- we do a lot, but I'm always worse on the upper body / core. Much more sore there than anywhere else. We do TONS of pushups, planks, medicine ball stuff, kettle bells, tri-ceps, etc. The legs are probably less than 1/3 of what we do. There's no way I'd push myself to do these alone. It's worth the money for me to join the group in this case! Hope your class goes ok!

Hey Jes!
Boot camp is crazy! Monday morning, we had to run up and down this giant hill for 8 minutes straight. I almost threw up.
Today we worked out in the rain. I didn't mind though, since it was pretty warm and the rain cooled me off. The trainer put a basket of tennis balls at the top of a 60 step stairway and we had to run up the stairs, grab a tennis ball and come back down. On the tennis ball were written different exercises and when we got down the stairs, then had to do those respective exercises. Everything from core, to squats, to frog jumps, tricep dips. It was a killer!!!
I'm like you though, I need to have someone push me to the limit and I feel it's definitely worth the $$ too.
On Tuesday, Thurs, and Saturday, we are supposed to do something low impact just to keep our HR up for about 45 min to an hour.

Tues (9/2): 43 mile ride
Wed: off
Thurs (9/4): 19 miles
Friday (9/5): 19 miles
Sat (9/6): 47 mile hilly hard pace ride
Sun: off
Total for week: 160 miles
I hope to start back running some more over the next week or so.

If I can just get my diet under control! I haven't been making the best of food choices, but hopefully have done a little better over the past week.
The boot camp sounds like a great workout!

BC was crazy again today. We did circuits at stations for 1 minute each
1. Running up and down the 60 step stairway
2. Running backwards up the hill w/ 3 lb weights in each hand
3. Push ups
4. Walking lunges
5. Plank hold
At the end, we had a contest to see who could frog jump the farthest. I came in 2nd-not too shabby!

I had a pretty good week:
Monday ran 2.4 miles, pushups
Tuesday was much needed rest
Wednesday ran 3.2 miles, pushups
Thursday more rest
Friday ran 4 miles
Saturday even more rest
Sunday 2.5 hours of mountain biking, about 14 miles of single track.
I worked 57.5 hours last week so the rest was definitely needed to keep up. I honestly was able to keep myself from feeling really run down which is nice. This week I will probably work less and push it a little more.

Hope it's okay if I join! I figure it will help me to stay on track if I know I'll be writing it down for other people's viewing! Last week was interesting:
Sunday: 16.5 mile bike ride
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - nothing (recovering from fall on aforementioned ride):p
Thursday: 7 mile bike ride
Friday: AM - 2 mile run on treadmill, lower body weights workout, abs
PM - 11 mile ride
Saturday: 10.2 mile ride
My knees have really been bothering me when I run and I've been advised not to run for a while. Friday was a trial run after a short break, but they are still acting up. Will have to stick with walking on the treadmill for a couple of weeks. I'm trying to get over the psychological barrier I seem to have that makes me feel like I will never lose weight if I can't run! I suppose walking is better than nothing.

Hi 3for3! Of course it's ok for you to join! It's good to see that you are still keeping up your exercising even though you cant run!!!
I had another good week. Right now I am using cycling as recovery from boot camp. It seems to be working...
I've gained 2 lbs but..........wait for it...... I've lost an inch on my thighs and 2% body fat in two weeks!!! Yay! My trainer says that in a few more weeks the weight will start to melt off me.
Anyway, here's my weekly log
Sun/14th-off
Mon/15th- butt kicking boot camp (and my 30th bday!!!)
Tue/16th- 12 mile recovery ride on hybrid
Wed/17th- a.m. butt kicking boot camp, p.m. 9 mile ride on Onyx
Thu/18th- tennis w/ DBF
Fri/19th- butt kicking boot camp

Happy 30th Andrea! I had mine back in March. I think I was afraid to turn 30 but so far it's the best decade of my life! (All 6 months of it so far!) Hope you managed to do something fun after butt-kicking-boot-camp. I think I would have been tempted to skip out that day! :p

So-so week for me. Looks active on paper but there wasn't as much challenging myself. I really felt like the lack of running was a let down. Plus the mountain biking is still hard for me to get a good workout because I am learning.
Monday- Mountain biking, about an hour but there was a lot of stopping.
Tuesday- nothing
Wednesday- push ups, ran 3 laps (2.4 miles)
Thursday- Commuted home 27 miles
Friday- push ups
Saturday- 16.4 miles mountain biking, some of these miles (maybe 4) was asphalt connecting two trails.
Sunday- 5.5 miles mountain biking, worked hard this day. Push ups.

Sun 9/21 - 6 mile walk up Provo Canyon - 16 min miles
Mon 9/22 - off
Tues 9/23 - 17:35 cardio warm up on treadmill, push ups, core and lower body strength training
Wed 9/24 - 10.2 mile (very painful!) ride. Legs were totally sore from Tues, this ride HURT, but I did it faster than I've ever done that trail. :)
Thur 9/25 - 30 min. yoga, push ups, core and upper body strength training
Fri 9/26 - 6 mile walk up Provo Canyon
Sat. 9/27 - off - We were going to do a family ride, but I've got two sickos on my hands! My hubby and daughter have colds so I'm playing nurse. So, I didn't get two rides in this week, which is my goal, but I'll live. It was a good week overall.
I LOVE reading this thread, as everyone here is so darn motivated and energetic. Great accomplishments all. Thanks for motivating me. I dropped out of the weekly weigh-ins because my scale was erratic, but I'm anxious to start the next one. In the meantime, I thank you for this motivation!

Alright, I've been dreading sending in this post. For some reason I really lost steam last week. Of course, it didn't help that we had a family birthday and I was preparing for / dealing with company in from out of town. I think it became all too easy to use those as an excuse for not working out. Can anyone relate? On the up side....my house got a super cleaning that it really needed!
Sun 9/28 - 17:30 cardio warm up on treadmill (10-12% incline)
total body strength training
Mon 9/29 - 3.2 mile walk
49 pushups
Tues / Wed - off
Thurs 10/2 - 18 min cardio warm up on treadmill (10-12% incline)
core and lower body strength training
53 pushups
Fri 10/3 - off
Saturday -pushups 58
I only really worked out three days! :( Well, maybe the mental break will keep me psyched up for the rest of the month of October. I also have a question for you all...Do you have a different "winter weight" goal than you would have for "summer weight"? The weather got cold here for the first time this season and I was reminded how much my appetite goes up. I was wondering if I should give myself a couple of pounds of leeway for the winter months?
Aggie_Ama

My nifty new Polar tells me:
4 workouts (ran 10.4 miles total and commuted home 27 miles one day)
4 hours 5 minutes of activity
2392 calories burnt, alright too bad I ate Mexican, Pizza and had beer this weekend.
In addition to the 2- 5ks, 1 - 4 miler and the commuting I did pushups twice, a ton of yard work Friday night and Saturday plus walked around for 3 hours at a Wildlife Expo Saturday afternoon.

3for3- To answer your question regarding winter weight vs summer weight... I have no idea. I've lost about 45 lbs in the last year and before then didn't pay much attention to my health and fitness levels for about 10 years. Until I reach my goal weight I wont know for sure... Just gotta keep plugging along until then!
FYI... this wasn't a good week for me. I am not looking forward to posting my workouts on Sunday...

Bump. Last week wasn't good for me:
4 runs- 3.2, 2-ish, 2.4, 3.2
Some very light yard work. I am fighting allergy season and it zaps my motivation. Still moved forward towards the weight loss goal. I think this week will be a bust too since I am going out of town. I will take my running shoes though.

*Bump*
Let me bring my shame to the table. Week of 10/13-10/19:
Thursday- Ran 3.2 miles. Good time on the run.
And that is IT!! Back in the swing of things though, I ran last night and will likely ride tonight. But wow, one day? I still lost 2 lbs on my weight watchers weigh in, maybe my body was needing a break.
