View Full Version : In need of rack recommendations
I'm looking for a good rear rack for my bike - one that can handle a trunk bag and some panniers. It will be for commuting only (no touring). My bike has bosses for a rack near the dropouts, but not near the seat tube on the seatstays. I bought a "One Fits All" Topeak Explorer rack only to find out that it needs the seatstay bosses, so it will be going back to the store. Topeak recommended getting a rack that mounts to the seatpost, but I'd like to avoid those if possible. Do you have any recommendations?

Try Old Man Mountain (http://www.oldmanmountain.com/Pages/RackPages/RearRacks.html) racks...

Old Man Mountain is a good choice that will fit pert near anything if you get the right model...
I've had good luck with Delta racks, but then that's just the brand that my LBS carries... The Topeak racks often are set up for that special snap-on connector for the Topeak rack trunks.

Tubus Fly only has a single arm that mounts to the brake bridge.

I went to my LBS Saturday to buy a rack. My Dolce has no eyelets but I asked if I could use clamps to fit that style rack on it. He said yes, but recommended the Topeak seat-clamp rack. I questioned that given my carbon seat post but he said for commuting purposes it should be just fine. I guess he's right; a change of clothes and some shoes aren't going to weigh that much. Plus it will be much easier to take on and off. I'll be trying it out Wednesday.
