Hi All,
The powers that be at work decided this year that since I am apparently the new poster child for healthy choices (since I've started riding so much and commuting to work) and since they think I have no other life, that I am to be the captain of our departments AHA Heart Walk this year. Did I mention that they they just told me today oh and did I mention that I have a little over a month to come up with not only teams but also money? Ahhhhhh!!!
Apparently my hospital is the main sponsor for the Heart Walk and last year they did nothing so they think I can come up with something new and innovative to get not only money but also participants. I guess this will be good practice for raising money for the ALC.
Okay, so my ideas so far:
Yard sale (contributions for all of the team and donate anything not sold to Salvation Army or some other group)
Ask the Docs
Make paracord bracelets for the team to wear and "sell" others for support
Ask my LBS for donations
Bake sale, possibly in conjunction with the yard sale

That's all I've got so far. I already looked on the ALC websites for ideas, but if anyone else has ideas please let me know. I've got a lot of energy and I want this to be fun.
Thanks,
Gray

My team did a yard sale for our livestrong challenge ride and we raised over $600, not a bad day and nice to get rid of lots of junk. I also arranged a couple of fundraisers with restaurants. Raised a couple hundred that way. Something worth looking into. I used Max and Erma's in Pittsburgh. They gave me coupons, I gave them to friends and family and asked them to spread them around too. Then we got 20% of all the bills turned in with a coupon. It was also a very nice night out with many friends and family coming to the restaurant to help out the cause.

Good luck. I think if you search the site, there have been a couple threads with people asking for advice raising money for charity rides as well. That may help some.
