I feel so giddy...like the first day I learned to ride my bike! And I'm so glad I have TE with whom to share.
I picked up my very first road bike today - a 2009 Trek Madone 5.2 WSD. I teetered and tottered on whether to go for such a bike as a first road bike, but I am wanting to train for that half-ironman (Sept 2009), and I am relatively fit and not a new cyclist. So I thought what the heck. Wow. I have to say that I am just blown away!!! I can never go back!! The feel of this thing is incredible - the seat is surprisingly comfortable, the fit is glove-like, and the ride is, well, amazing.
I have to give credit to my LBS though. They did an amazing fit job. Not only did they measure and fit me prior to deciding the size of my bike, they also spent quite a bit of time fitting me to the clipless pedals. I can't explain it properly but they used this contraption to ensure that the clips under the shoe are aligned the way they're supposed to. Then they checked to make sure that the handlebars and saddles are in the right spot. They basically spent about 45 minutes with me today just making sure that the bike is a perfect fit. The store is a Trek "concept" store - it is actually called the "Trek Store."
Anyway, i just had to share cuz I am so stoked. I can't wait to get out there again!! (tomorrow)
Thanks for reading if you have read this far, lol. I will post photos soon; I just haven't had a chance to do so (ironic given that I am a photographer, lol).
