Does anyone know the magic number for setting wheel size 26x1.95 on a cyclocomputer? I tried to do the math and came up with 2074 (I have a Nashbar wireless on one bike and a Bell SpinFit on the other) but I'm not sure that's right. It looks like it would be since it's between the numbers for a 26x1.75 and a 26x2.0 but, my math skills being what they are (nonexistent - this is why I teach music!), there's no telling.

I've read all the stuff about how to figure out correct wheel size but I think I've gone into brain overload and they're all too confusing...

The deal is, I just got a Specialized Rockhopper last week and I've got a Bell SpinFit computer on it while I eagerly await the arrival of my new Sigma BC1606L. I just want to be sure I get it set correctly.

Please help if you can!

Make a mark on your tire with chalk. Make a second mark on your driveway or a section of sidewalk with chalk. Match up the two marks. Walk your bike forward until your tire mark is pointing directly down. Mark that spot, and measure between the two sidewalk marks.

This kind of measurement will vary some (tho there are ways to make it quite accurate), but should be Good Enough to work as a double check on your math.
