I had gotten a Giant Boulder (the steel version) last summer to use for commuting. I didn't want anything fancy, but I sure should have thought more about comfort. My main bike is the OCR-C (all carbon composite - v.light)...and this commuter comparably felt like it weighed as much as 2 of my cocker spaniels. I rationalized last year that it'd help me get stronger for my "real" riding. All it did was keep me from wanting to ride it. So... I haven't commuted one day this whole year! <sigh>

A girlfriend of mine has been shopping for a new road bike and she's a "Trekkie" (not the show, the bikes... LOL). Her catalogues gave me bike l*st.. and anyhow...I went over to the Trek store today. Low n behold...there she was.... a 2008 Trek FX 7.5 wsd. She fits..and she is light as a feather!

Here is a picture of her

I don't have her yet, but hope to pick her up Tuesday and able to start saving gas again by Thursday! (Wed is my group ride...gotta take the OCR for that one!)

Can't wait to see her all decked with my rack (uhh..the kind for hanging bags... .. oh, okay. seriously.. you know what I mean!) LMAO
Now I can go grocery shopping with her and lots of other short errands too! Yippee Skippee!

Why is getting another bike even more exciting than getting a new car? :D

Excellent choice!
Welcome to the FX Club :D

Of course, you'll need fenders too.

I have been riding (sort of) my Giant mtb that I inherited when some friends got divorced. I hate it.....

It's slow, heavy and uncomfortable compared to my road bike (Scott Contessa :p)......People look at me like I'm crazy when I say my bike is comfortable :D

Anyways, I would love to ride for my daily commute. I'm going to start looking for a commuter. Any suggestions would be welcome.

+1. It seems to be a great line of bikes. I have a lowly 7.2, myself. :p

Ahhhhh another Trek. It's a fine thing to be a member of that family.

You know, I never washed or waxed any of the cars in my life; but upon finding a tiny scratch on my bike and I was bereft. I never petted my cars but I pet my bike.

At the moment I'm hot on the trail of the EXACT color red fingernail polish to cover some small dings.

Oh BabyBlue, that is a beautiful bike. It's classy and you'll look oh so smart riding her everywhere. You'll be the talk of the town. :)

Thanks! Hee hee...I'm not so sure I'll be the talk of the town though. :p A lot of people on the roads here do not appreciate cyclists or their lovely machines in the slightest. I, however, will feel GREAT doing my part to cut pollution. I'll save $ and get stress-relief/exercise all at the same time. Ya just can't beat that!

What's neat is that I went wanting to look at the new (2009) 7.6 because I thought the white was prettier. (me and my silly color habits - that's how I got my current road bike...I fell in love with the baby blue color - LOL!) This bike is the 2008 7.5.. not a WHOLE lot different..just less some more expensive components and carbon pieces.. Not necessary really. The 7.5 has my beloved baby blue in accent colors! That clinched it. After I thought about it more, the black will not show chain slap like on my other bikes either. ALSO...best part... I am getting a discount since it's last year's model! Win win win!

P.S. Talk about irony....Tuesday, I'll bring my FX home in my FX. I can pretty much tell ya that'll be the only time it'll ride in there. Can't wait to ride this bike! eeeeeee

I buy my bikes based on color. :) My hardtail was a candy red.

Color is very important to me. I have to say the thing that tipped me to the Cannondale road bike I have over the Specialized Ruby was the frame looks. And I couldn't bring myself to buy the Trek FX in my commuter budget because it was burnt orange. No Aggie will ride anything that color with pride. :p

Heh Heh... you sure don't have to explain the offensiveness of ORANGE (burnt or sissy) to a SOONER! RAH!!

Just curious -- Do you have the Cannondale Road Warrior Feminine 4? That one was on my short list...very pretty!
