Mirror question

I really need to get some mirrors for my bikes and could use some suggestions. I have read a few threads about mirrors and it seems that an awful lot of people use the little mirrors that attach to your bike helmet or sunglasses. I have an unusual birth defect that prevents me from moving my left eye outward. Normally, I just compensate by turning my head instead of my eyes. That doesn't work with the helmet mirror, because if I turn my head, the mirror goes with!!

So for those of you who do not/cannot use the small "third eye" type of mirrors, what have you found that you like? I have one bike with drop bars and one with mountain bike style bars.

personally I do not like mirrors, just turn my head back. But I have seen some people using a little parabolic mirror that replaces your handlebar plugs. With that one you would have to look down instead of outside - would that work? Not sure where you could find it, but next time I see one I will ask.

There's several types of bar end mirrors on this page - at least one is supposed to work on a mt bike.

I don't use a mirror either, but I certainly cannot turn my head far enough to the left to look fully over my shoulder without also turning my eyeballs! I can see the real need to have a mirror with that problem

I raise up on the seat and look between my legs for people behind me. Funny, it's rare they pass me after that...

I can't use the mirrors attached to a helmet either. All I can see is my glasses, my shoulder, and NEVER the traffic behind me.

I use the big honker mirror that screws into the end of your handlebar. It works just GREAT for me.

I recently tried out a very small, lightweight mirror that attaches with velcro to the end of the handlebars (mtn./hybrid type bars). It worked really well and did not interfere with my grips. My hubby is using my mirror from my previous mountain bike that attaches onto the end also - he loves the bigger mirror. Tomorrow I will try out the new one that attaches to my eyeglasses - takes some getting used to. The ones that attach to the bar ends sound like the ticket for you. My Mirrycle works great. It attaches to the handlebar end, is highly adjustable, very solid feeling (no vibration), has a wide viewing angle, easily folds when loading into car, etc. It comes in mountain bike variety or road bike. My Giant Suede hybrid takes the mountain mirrycle.;)

I bought a Bell mirror which I attached to my left handlebar...I just cannot get it angled right to see anything except myself! Best thing I do is an over the shoulder peek which has worked thus far.

Aspire VeloTech sells : The Italian Road Bike Mirror which is a small mirror which "plugs" into the end of your drop bar. 25.00. I've only heard good things about them.
I'm going to order one, because I can't have any competing motion around my eyes, I get really, really motion sick.
This mirror doesn't stick out, is very unobtrusive, and looks great on a bike.

I have had the Italian Road Bike Mirror for about 1.5 mos, tho I might switch it out to a Sprintech (Iggy, if you're interested, email me). The mirror is great, my only issue is that it goes over the bars with these big fins and is held on with your tape. If you ride with your hands at the ends of the drops ever, your left hand is resting on the bulk of the fins under the tape. Might not be an issue for everyone, but I have issues with my left wrist so the jury is still out. Anyone with a Sprintech who can comment on how well it stays in position? I do have the grab the IRBM and squish it to the right place sometimes, but it doesn't move too far.

I've got similar in concept to the Italian Road mirror. May be the same thing. Pull out the bar plug and put the mirror in. It's slightly convex so you get a pretty good view and adjustable.

Suits my purposes pretty well.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I was really intrigued by the Mirrycle for road bikes, but it has been recalled. I still think I would like the mountain bike Mirrycle. I'm leaning toward the Sprintech for my drop bars. I like the quality of the Italian mirror, but prefer the way the Sprintech mounts.
