Hi everyone! I've been "lurking" for a while and just posted on the "Getting to know you" sticky.

Anyway, I bought a bike in the spring from Target-a comfort/hybrid-just to see if I even still liked riding bikes. This bike has been great and it's just fine for tooling around the neighborhood w/ my BF and our puppy in a basket.

I WANNA GO FAST!!!! So, I tested a bunch of road bikes and fell in love with the LeMond Tourmalet. I put a deposit down on her yesterday and cant wait to pick her up next week (when I can pay off the rest).

My question is... How can I customize this beautiful girl to truly make her mine? I noticed a few posts down that you guys helped another "pink" out her new baby. I don't think pink will work on this beauty...

Handlebar tape that matches the lettering on the frame would look nice. It looks like a blue or turquoise?

I had some lovely blue handlebar tape from Bontrager it looks like your writing might be similar.

If you are going clipless Look did make some clipless Keo Sprint pedals also in blue, I find the Keos pretty easy to use since you can loosen the tension. You might hate the stock saddle, then you could always get one to match. Then there is always water bottles, bottle cages or even tires. I would play on the writing and let the white be dominate.

Thanks for the tips!

Aggie-I am not going clipless yet. I haven't been on a road bike in about 20 years so I want to get comfortable on it first. :o

Oooh yeah, Aggie's handlebar blue tape would go well with your new bike! I remember a post from a long time ago...by Equus I think it was, about her new Trek Madone 6.5(?). She had a really nice looking saddle on there, white with turquoise accents. Try and do a search for her thread, she has pics of the saddle posted on there.

if that pic is blue, go for blue anodized bottle cages. And of course blue striped tires (Stelvio? Conti? Michelin?). OR white ones

If you are going to add blue accents, you should make sure they are not all different types of blue. That turquoise bar tape look quite different from the apparently teal lettering on your bike, as far as I can tell from the photo.
Like Zen, I think the bike looks gorgeous as it is- very elegant and stylin'.

Precisely why mine no longer has blue tires.

And I now have Dark Blue bar tap like the dark blue of my frame that matches my bottle cages. Don't want anyone talking about my bike, I already don't have a helmet that matches- the horror!

i too like it the way it is....though will tell you from experience that the white tape will get dirty fast!

I think I'm going to leave it the way it is for now (maybe change the saddle if the original doesn't work for me) and hook it up for my first century in May. I'll probably add the bottle cages soon though.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts!

Andrea;)

I hear you... I solved the problem buying three helmets, one per bike...
Glad to discover that I am not the only 'bike fashion diva' around :D

Sweet.
It seems to have a charcoal/black and white kinda theme (lower part of fork and stays appear to be charcoal or black?). Black tape, or dark carbon looking tape in that case, would contrast the white nicely. I'm fixing up a bike for my niece now, it's pearl white with chromed stays and fork so I bought silver DEDA tape to fit the chrome/white theme. Nicest tape I've ever used, and it comes in a variety of colors. Saddle (why do the stock saddles never feel good?) if needed, and a fitting would really make it 'you'. Speedplay Light-Action pedals can be had in white (I admit I am a Speedplay fanatic) and the X1 is in a dark carbon color for the weight weenies.

It's fun spending other peoples money LOL. Enjoy your new classy ride!
