Wow, she was quite an accomplished triathlete, and it sounds like her spirit will live on in the lore of the sport.
She crashed during a race (but it was unclear if other bikes, peds, or car involved). I've heard about triathletes having heart attacks on the swim, but not sure if I'd heard of this... but, then marathoner Ryan Shay died at the peak of his career at the US Olympic trials just last year... so nothing is a given. Guess we all have to ride safe and enjoy the time we have here...

I saw that on slowtwitch. Just tragic.

Very tragic. I was at work when I read this post so I started websearching a bit.

She sounds like a woman who lived life very much on her terms. I have to respect her wishes but there is a part of me that just wants to scream "why couldn't they FIX her?"

Is so scary. For a woman who has done so much, it was a small-ish tri in a very beautiful small-ish town that hurt her.

I started to get kind of upset over it all and then had to think she was doing something she loved. How very tragic for her husband, children, and sister.

I've read it too - it takes the courage of a lion to say "stop".

Heard about it on the radio this morning. Only it was a stupid morning show and they went on about how pointless it was to exercise and if you're going to die young(ish) why not spend the time on the couch eating bon-bons:mad: Some people just don't get it.

That is very sad. What a role model for all of us.

Sometimes I think people syphon out their brains before they speak. :(

From a news story on the web:
"Warren also competed in a seven-day race across the Sahara Desert, and finished a triple Ironman in France that included a 7.2-mile swim, 336-mile bike ride and 78.6-mile run."

I'm a wuss when it's 80F out and I'm in air conditioning. Can't imagine racing across the Sahara
