I guess I'll start....

Rode with the LBS group ride. They normally split into an A & B group but since there were only about 12 or so people when it came time to split the guys tried to talk me into going on the longer ride. Another gal and one guy were going to do the B and I opted to stay with them but then all but 2 guys went with us.

So basically I ended up in a break away group with 4 guys that normally ride the A. EEK! The other gal got dropped but her husband told us to leave her - that she would get picked up- and she did but I felt bad.

Anyway, the guys were pretty cool and we did the 28 miles averaging 21.5 mph.

Then I still had to go to the barn and do my chores.

Off to shower and bed!

I took my chocolate bike to work with me, and stopped off on the way home at Al Foster trail. I rode al foster to stinging nettle trail. I love stinging nettle. So far I've accidently taken a few of the connector trails, but today was the first time I rode the whole trail without accidently getting on one of the connectors. I rode up a steep part that I didn't think I could make it up, and rode through a couple of the sand pits I'd had to walk through the last time. I did walk through one long sand pit, and walked up a steep rooty trail because I lost momentum stopping to look at trail signs. It's a great trail- challenging for me but not so much that I have to walk a lot of stuff. I went through some water, over a log, and didn't even slow down for some of the dips. I had a blast, I think I'll do it again tomorrow. This time I will take some of the connectors that I haven't been on yet. It was a total of 9.4 miles. We aren't supposed to get any rain this week, so it should be in great shape.

fastdogs--Stinging Nettle Trail sounds awesome...just the name alone. I remember getting stranded as a kid, barefoot in a stinging nettle patch. Those ugly little plants are VICIOUS.

Sounds like a great ride. When I build up some stamina (please Lord, soon) I want to replace the mtb I lost in the house fire and start riding the millions of mtb paths in this area. I love the hybrid bike for commuting and puttering around but I really miss the dirt trails (the tamer ones actually....I leave the wild stuff to you guys.)

Did a recovery ride today of 20.5 miles, which probably should have been a little bit more "recovery" like. My friend and new riding partner sort of only has one speed. :) If I were alone, I certainly would have gone slower, but it was relatively easy.

Don't under-estimate that hybrid of yours.... I'll bet that she could handle some of the dirt around here. What kind of tires are you using now?

Monday was a driving day for me, so no ride to report :( I did at least take the Cody monster for a nice long walk last night while DH was at work. So I got some exercise in.

27.04 mile commute home. It threatened rain for about 20 miles but held off thankfully and the great part is the off and on showers had kept it cool. After I made it to the isolated part (ranch country) I saw tons of birds (blue jays mainly), goats and cows. I also got chased by a fericious little chihuahua/terrier mix I call Chief. :p DH caught me at about 22 miles driving the same route, I proudly turned down the ride home and finished out the commute.
