Yesterday, my beautiful sister-in-law drew her last breath and gently slipped away to a beautiful and peaceful place. She was surrounded by her family and loving husband of 2 years who provided her encouragement and unwavering support during her difficult journey through cancer. Even as the storms grew, she never lost hope in her faith and lived life abundantly. I can only imagine how beautiful she is and I look forward to being reunited with her on that special day. The saints must have rejoiced when the gates opened for her.

Thank you all for your words of comfort and encouragement. Our family truly felt uplifted during the past few days, despite the pain of our loss. As the days come to an end, I find little treasures that were overshadowed by distractions. Sunflowers blooming across the field, a cup of mint tea, hummingbirds that curiously study a bouquet of flowers, a child's laughter, and the pink hues of a reluctant sunset. I feel her presence, as if a quilt were gently laid around my shoulders. I can only smile as I know she would rather rejoice the art of living rather than mourn the loss. She is our hope of a complete reunion and we will one day rejoice together.

My sister-in-law enjoyed the company of her girlfriends and they would dress up in hats, boas and vintage jewelry. She called it foo-foo and many evenings were spent enjoying the southern traditions. As a tribute, we donned our hats and celebrated her life in a style she so enjoyed. I'm on the left.
