Didn't see a thread, so I figured I'd start one:)
My ride today wasn't all the eventful. We're still at the beach on vacation, and I did a short 13.8. Headwinds were terrible even in NC from Fay.
The cool part of the day was a short sunset paddle. Dolphins love kayaks, and they came out to play. A rather large pod, including a couple with a baby. Too cute and too sweet. I love to hear them blow, and they were even tail splashing. They circled around us for a few minutes before swimming off into the sunset and out to sea. Beautiful!! Wish I had had my camera with me...

Dolphins! Lucky you. I'd love to see some!
I rode a few roads I hadn't been on in a while. It was the windiest day I've seen all summer. I was extra pokey. I got passed by another woman. Later I caught up to her, we rode together and spoke a bit, and she asked if I was a racer. That definitely made getting passed a little better! I laughed, and said no, I was a snail.
We continued on the same path for a while, and I thought she was going to do the good hill with me, but she went straight, I yelled bye, turned and made it up the windy hill.
I felt really good today. Could have stayed on the bike all day.

Had my first ride post "tour." I spent Monday recovering with a yoga class and yesterday I did weights, core, elliptical. I think I did too much elliptical because my knees are aching, not something i usually deal with.
It was cold this morning (51), so I waited until it got to 60 and went out around 11:15. I did my regular loop and of course, I was slow. I never worry about speed on tours with tons of climbing, but as soon as I get home, I obsess on it. I guess I have to accept the fact that it's going to be speed or distance for me and it looks like speed is not winning.
When I got to the point where I could have gone home, I rode an extra 2 miles to Concord Center, since it is one of the few flat stretches near me, and then sat on a bench in the gorgeous clear, dry air and watched people for about 20 minutes. I took a little bit of a longer way back, too, for a total of 18.5 miles.
It's going to be nice tomorrow, too and then the humidity comes back.

Oh, that sounds so special, CA! I absolutely love dolphins! Have never had the pleasure of paddling near them, but have had them nearby when sailing. A real joy!

Rode the semi-local TT tonight with a PR. Just 10 miles, but averaged 22.2 mph, so was happy especially after a brisk group ride yesterday.

Women's day out.
Yesterday I got an invite from a female riding buddy, which she'd sent to me and one of our male friends. He declined, I accepted, and when I showed up this morning there was a third woman there, someone pretty strong whom I'd hardly ridden with this summer.
I was a little intimidated, but it turns out those two had been thrashed on the club hammer-fest yesterday, and since my legs were fresh, I was safe  Actually, by the end of the ride, I was pulling them up the hills, which made me feel pretty good (even though I knew we weren't starting from even).
We all stuck together and had a really good day. The weather couldn't have been better, the woodlands and farms are at high summer despite the mild temperatures, even the pollen and the fresh chipseal weren't too awful.
56 miles, 16.1 avs, 2940 feet of climbing.
I rode a quick 5 miles before I had to go to work cleaning out my moms house.
We're getting a lot of showings and there's still stuff in there and it's filthy!
Passed a TV on the roadside that someone had set out for trash.
I could see my reflection in it as I rode past. Hey! Look Vern! I'm on the tee-vee!
On the way back I got my speed to a comfortable 16mph then got to a long grade where I watched it eventually drop to 9 mph :o
I wished I could have kept riding but I do want to sell that house.

rode only 22miles with 1200 feet of climb. didn't sleep all that well last night. Just so stressed out from my job. So the ride was nice to relieve my stress and clear my body of all that negative energy.
pleasant weather with light breeze. I enjoyed my tranquail ride today.:)

I increased my personal long distance record today! I put in 65 miles! I planned out a loop almost 22 miles long right around my house, so I could take a break at the house after every loop. I'm diabetic and have been having problems with my levels on my rides, so I wanted to stay close for this one.
The wind kicked up to about a steady 15mph with gusts to 22 or so the last loop, which sucked. But I only had it in my face for about 1/3 of the way each loop.
Took me a total of 5 hours and 11 minutes--just over 12 mph average. Not bad, I think, given I'm still riding my 5 year old Raleigh Hybrid and just started riding in April.
