I am trying to figure out how these work, and if they work for smaller hands.
I've been trying to find a video that would show it, but to no avail. Apparently you shift using only your thumb, no index finger involved.
:confused::confused::confused:

I have the XO shifters and they work great. There is a larger thumb paddle for down shifting and a smaller one forward of it for upshifts. It really did not take much time to get used to using them instead of the Shimano shifters. My bike came with the SRAM grip shifters, but I found the trigger shifters a lot easier to use for my small hands.

BTW (thinking of your other post re: bikes on Ebay), I got my Racer X on Ebay and had no problems. I think it is important to query the seller and see how they respond, ask questions, check feedback. This was the largest purchase I have ever made and I was nervous about it, too, but I got a good deal and everything went super smooth.

Thanks Wave. I was worried that my small hands would not like the SRAM's, so I am glad to hear that you like them.

My feeling about this purchase (my justification) is that it is a 2008 model - I am positive of that - and he says it only has 10 miles on it. How bad could it be? Maybe I shouldn't ask that???? (can you say jinx?)

Last year's SRAM X7 is basically the old X9, so it's pretty good. I love SRAM and it's all I use on my mtbs. I have the world's smallest hands and shortest fingers (like we're talking kids gloves in the winter practically) and I have no trouble shifting at all. It's super easy and has a very fast engagement.

Oh, and I've bought 2 sets of SRAM X9s on Ebay with no trouble!:p

I hate SRAM x7. Okay, so hate is a little harsh.:D:D:D

I'm not a fan, let's just say that. My Trek 6700 has it and Geoff had to rotate them in so I could get my thumbs on them. I found it hard to shift the high gear trigger.

I have Shimano XT on the new Gary Fisher Hi-Fi 29er but I haven't gotten to ride it yet. Well I take that back, I rode it about a month ago when it was on the Trek demo truck and loved it. We called after they left and asked if it was available and it was! Geoff picked it up at TrekWorld this weekend and it's sitting in the dining room with my 6700 giving it ugly stares. I think she knows she headed for Craigslist.
