Once again my cool factor is hitting rock bottom. I keep seeing "frn" in various fora. What the heck does it mean?

In my world, it's capitalized and it stands for "Federal Register Notice (http://www.gpoaccess.gov/fr/index.html)".

No "frn." But, this list is interesting nonetheless! I had no idea there was so much internet slang out there!

In my world, it's capitalized and it stands for "Federal Register Notice (http://www.gpoaccess.gov/fr/index.html)". :rolleyes:Hmm, I think this is the right one. Someone on another forum continually rants about our economic system and I think he has started using "frn" as a pejorative any time cost of a service or item is discussed.

It's just that in the disjointed conversations of forums, it's hard to identify the right meaning. There are so many possibilities.

I may just have to drop "Fully Recovered Nerd" into the conversation sometime. :p

Ah. My guess would be he's one of those fringe tax-resister types, and FRN stands for Federal Reserve Note, i.e. paper money.

Is it just this one guy who's using the abbreviation? Or are you seeing it in different places?

ok, after googling it, I think "frn" is a cell phone texting abbreviation for "friend".
See it in use here:

Is it just this one guy who's using the abbreviation? Or are you seeing it in different places?Multiple people are using it on one specific forum though I think I've seen it other places, but they could be posting using a different name. It's definitely being used by the folks ranting about costs, taxes, etc. Federal Reserve Note makes absolute sense, or at least close enough that I don't have to keep doing :confused::confused:
