Oh, pooey. I get 5 channels on my TV (six if I hold the antenna and raise my other arm) and all of them are playing kid's Saturday morning cartoons...
No Olympic bikes for me.:(
Really...... I have the tivo set up to record the parts with cycling, but it says not until 10am?
Which channel - or is it online?
Maybe it is delayed out here on the West Coast? Right now MSNBC has on Volleyball and the regular NBC coverage starts at 10. (Try channel 5 at 10 Knott)

Oh, goody!
Got King 5 on right now, just so I don't miss anything. (and I don't have to hold the antenna to watch channel 5) Seven minutes to Olympics!

I watched it live until I fell asleep last night... the live coverage was cool, but needed more live feedback - they could learn a lot from Versus' coverage of the TdF. I missed live announcers a little bit, but they have a live commentary thing running where a guy types stuff in and kind of lets you know what's going on. What I really wanted was a constant tally of how far they had gone/had to go, a map I to see the route even if it didn't show where they were, and a constant tally of how far back the chase/peloton were. When they got to that part after the out and back where they had to do the laps to the finish line, it would have been nice to know what lap they were on.
Maybe they improved that in the broadcast or filled in the blanks with commentators? This was one of their first online broadcasts, I was hoping to find a place I could submit some feedback.
I am sad to have fallen asleep for the end... it looks like it went down to the wire.

I watched the live feed for the second and last hours. I fell asleep about midnight and woke up at 2:30 am. It was weird to fall asleep for a while, wake up and they were still riding! They rode for another hour. The outcome was pretty exciting.
I thought it was interesting how different the route felt, not having the spectators the Tour de France had. There were white-gloved security officers at very regular intervals and just a few areas of fans. It had a surreal feeling to it because of the security and the lack of an announcer on the feed. I did have cyclingnews.com up too, so I could ID those who dropped out.
China is beautiful.

They showed the beginning of the men's road race at about 11 Central on NBC. I'm wondering if they are treating it as if it's real time.

It was odd. And funny seeing the motorcycles. I always felt they were to keep the crowds back. What crowds? Not even one guy in a devil suit  Without fans it's almost not the same sport.
I wonder how the riders felt about this ride through a beautiful silent countryside.
Just watched more coverage about Darra Torres. Yes, she's amazing and inspiring. Jeannie Longo is 49. Why no coverage about her? Is it because she's not American?
The women's road race is just getting started on the streaming online coverage. (at nbcolympics.com) In case anyone's interested.
Didnīt see the race (no TV, is there a way of watching online?), but have just seen the result! :):):)

I googled the race schedule yesterday morning before it was broadcast, and the headlines all showed the results! Didn't even bother to watch after it was spoiled. Well, I watched a little, but it wasn't that exciting since I knew the outcome.

Remember back in the Good Old Days when they'd warn you before giving any results and tell you to turn off the t.v. or cover your ears if you didn't want the surprise spoiled? When did they stop doing that? On the internet it would be even easier--just write SPOILERS in big red letters when linking to results. Phooey.
OTOH, I managed to catch the end of the women's road race entirely by accident and I hadn't yet seen the results, so DD and I enjoyed it together.

At last, a global sporting event that is on at a regular time here in Perth..Too bad i'm not watching.. Especially after I heard that the chinese olympic officials didn't allow any spectators along the cycling course! Michael Rodgers family had to follow the race by mobile! What a croc!
Yay for being in the same time zone as Beijing..

Are the authorities afraid someone will get strip, run alongside the riders while wearing a football helmet with elk antlers on it or .... now now Trek, be nice. :p It just doesn't seem the same without the fans.
I'm waiting for track and to see that Finney phenom. :D

TVNZ won the bid for Olympics again - sadly.
Fortunately SKY have the 2010 winter and 2012 Olympics...
The coverage is abysmal. I was looking forward to seeing a replay of the opening as I was too tired to stay up - no replay at all.
Now the events have begun, they are riddled with adverts and constantly interrupted as only one public channel is covering this.
Its apalling in terms of technolgy and what should be available - and yes, I am venting LOUDLY on the TVNZ message board.
