question about Frogs

I just got a pair of Speedplay Frogs. For those of you who have these, when you clip in, do they make an audible "snap"? Do you push down into them, or rotate your foot and sort of wiggle in from the side?

All I've been able to do so far is slide my foot into them from the side, sort of reversing the clip out motion.

And there's absolutely no tension before clipping out. The foot just falls out from the side, which I actually like. But is this normal?

That's prettymuch how the ones on my commuter bike work! It's great for commuting, when you have to deal with cars & a lot of starts/stops.

Yep, that's normal. They don't have a "clipped in" sound at all. You can clip in by just sliding your foot forward onto the pedal.

To get into the Frogs, you should be sliding in from the back of the pedal which would be from the front of the cleat. They are very easy to get out of with a slight heal twist.

Yep, that's normal. They don't "clip" or make a loud click like most systems do, although they can make noise depending on how hard you push at first. It will take a little while to get used to.

I really had to study the system with my shoes off, just sliding the shoe on the pedal while I looked at it. I love my Frogs!

I found that my shoes clicked into place much easier if I twisted my heel slightly to the outside as I pushed in. But I have turned-out feet and my natural position is with heels inward as far was the cleat will allow. My cleats have developed some fore-aft play which I find disconcerting, but the little hex screws that are supposed to adjust that are frozen. And the cleats are only 4 months old.

Obviously not. They came in place and didn't have to be moved then.
