:o Seems like I'm slightly oblivious to seeing certain things...ie. drug dealing, prostitutes..etc.

Didn't know until today at bus stop at a certain station that there was enough drug dealing going on. Overhead some ladies chattin' up about what they see.

It is a "rougher" station with "rougher"-looking folks that occasionally look spaced out. Certainly alot of more smokers.

Have been at this bus stop..for over past 2 years. You would think I would notice..but must be lost in thoughts elsewhere. And you would think after living for over 15 years in another city in an area, that was known for street drug dealing, I should know the signs by now.

Same for hookers soliciting. People tell me where it is..and point it out...oh yea: you may be right. Unless it's so blatant, I guess I just don't notice.

Am I just ..clueless??

Clueless? I don't think so.

My guess is that you're in the good place of not judging or categorizing people based on appearance.;)

However, IMHO, now that you're aware of this, you might be well served to understand the potential danger that comes with proximity to a strung out junkey needing cash for his 'fix' and be more observant of those around you.:(

I enjoy the pastime of being hyper-observant. I like to observe people, their body language, their facial expressions, their gait. In an impersonal world, it's amazing what you see when you look at someone's eyes...

I don't know what to say..except to be at the receiving end of being judged wrongly solely on the basis of what I look like without even opening my mouth, has taught me abit...especially early in life. (memories I'd rather forget) So perhaps maybe it might be part of not wanting to categorize strangers too fast, that contributes to this supposed "cluelessness".

Ah well, I'm pretty reserved out on the street and don't allow strangers to get close to my personal bubble space.

Become an avid observer of all around you. You're small enough that it doesn't hurt to be super aware. I love to be on the bus because i can observe so many people at a time.

Don't misunderstand...I think your attitude about others is great. It sounds like you've found a way to protect yourself and not make your strength in this area a weakness in the area of safety...;)
