I finally got a picture of me with my new bike. All right, I've been riding it since October, so it's not really so new.

This is at the top of the Ridge Trail at the local regional park - Black Diamond Mines. That's also the trail featured in the movie on our website.

Nice. And I missed the chance to take a picture of William waiting for me in front of the pub last night. <sigh>

Thanks! Suspension took a little getting used to. I took a header in front of house within the first month of getting it. But I'm really having fun with it. A lot of the time we choose mountain biking over road - especially after work. Then I have the personal dilemma because of course I don't get as many miles when I ride off road and I'm trying to do more miles per month this year as compared to last.

Veronica, you look so noble, gazing off into the yonder with the purple whatchamajiggers at your feet! Very pretty bike, too! The hills are alive with the thump of fat tires!

Thanks - Thom takes the best pictures of me. I don't know how he does it. Yeah, he sometimes get the dorky smile or the double chin, but not often.

I think the purple stuff is clover. What do you think SadieKate? Is it in your book?

Purple Owl's Clover (Castilleja exserta) - more pics at Bay Area Hikers (http://www.bahiker.com/flowers/oc.html)

The Mt Diablo flower book says it isn't a clover at all and is closely related to paintbrushes. You'll see them near Deer Flat and Devil's Elbow as well as along Burma Rd and Pine Creek.

This photo (from the above site) was take at Black Diamond. BTW, the color in Thom's photo is much closer to the photo in the book. Since the color of your bike looks very true, I'm guessing his photo has the better color (but then we knew that it would ;) ).

Did you know you can mountain bike all those areas you listed? I've ridden them all except for Burma Road.

Not Devil's Elbow. It's beautiful, but scary. Cyclocross time for sure. :D The ride up to Deer Flat is tough, but doable, same thing with Pine Creek.
