Does such an animal exist?

Time has finally come for me to buy a stand but my DH wants me to look for a storage rack for 2 bikes (he said he might get a bike so plan for the future) that doubles as a stand for basic bike maintenance (small garage). I have the Topeak Flash Stand and it's wobbly since it's so tiny. I also tried working on my bike by putting it up on the trunk rack but the pedals kept hitting the bar even when I have it cantilevered at the furthest point. So far I've been turning it outside down when I work on it and my back just kill me. So.....

Looking at these, I think I'm going to run into the same problem with the bar in the way.

When I really want this to begin with but no, have to accommodate 2 bikes now.

For a lot of work, I put mine on the trainer:o

I've got the Nashbar version of the stand DebW mentions. My bike has curved chainstays and seatstays and it doesn't interact well with them. Using the trainer stand is pretty good because it is stable and it can be used to put resistance on the drivetrain. The downside is you need to get down on the floor to do anything.

Thanks for the feedback. I went to 2 bike stores yesterday and they recommended that I get a storage rack AND a work stand. I just don't have that kind of room in the garage for two.

I'm holding off on this purchase while I do some research. Probably design my own stand+storage rack instead if I don't find anything on the market.

Can you suspend the bikes from the ceiling? That would accomplish both goals.

I made my own stands out of PVC pipe (got the plans from a friend). PVC glue is nasty to work with though. I also have a workstand for working on the bikes.
Different tools for different needs.
