Seattle Century this Sunday, July 27th

Anyone doing the Seattle Century (http://www.seattlecentury.com/index.html) this Sunday? Start from Magnuson Park and the course looks pretty awesome. Both the 50 and 100 mile routes go through some beautiful parts of the city and surrounding area. I'm trying to talk hubby into going but he is not being cooperative. Yes, yes I know he hasn't been riding. Yes yes I know his longest ride to date is 25 miles but geeish . . . it looks like such a nice ride. Oh well I guess I'll just have to cruise around our area with Joe on Sunday. Probably do a 25 or 30 milers. My longest ride to date is 70 miles. You see I have been doing long rides during the weekday by myself. So I would love to do the 50 or even the 100 mile route of the Seattle Century. Sigh but oh well Que Sera sera. I'm just going to have to get that man back in shape. I told him if he won't do the Seattle Century with me then he is going to have to do the Harvest Century (http://www.harvestcentury.org/) on October 12th in Oregon! So he better start riding and getting ready for it! :p Am I mean? :confused: I don't think so! I'm just trying to have fun, stay in shape, enjoy myself, and ride in some pretty nice rides! :p

I would have love to do this century, but alas, we will be in Deception Pass camping with friends. The Harvest Century sounds like fun, but it is same weekend as DS 12th birthday....

I was just searching the web and Whidbey Island has a century (Tour de Whidbey) ride on Sept. 27th. Has anyone done this one?

I found another great ride . . . July 27th, this Sunday, Tour de Peaks at Snoqualmie!

routes are metric century 64 miles, half metric century 34 miles, and intermediate rides of 14 and 8 miles, and of course the family ride 4 miles.

Maybe I can talk hubby into this one?! :D

We did the Tour de Peaks metric century last year on our tandem. Beautiful scenery. We even saw a black bear stroll across the road about 50 yards ahead of us.

Susan - I've done the Tour de Peaks a few times - great support, beautiful backroads out/around North Bend area...good choices for you in the mileage loops too...I think you'd really enjoy it.

Thanks salsa and Mary! I think that will be my ride of choice for Sunday.

Is our nice weather ending? I saw the weekend weather report and it looks . . . . WET! :(

I hope it holds off during the ride. I don't mind a cloudy day as long as it's not raining.

And if it does sprinkle I won't ride on my new Specialized Ruby (only had her one month) instead I'll ride my old trek 2200.

I rode in Tour de Whidbey last year. Just did the 50 mile route (from Greenbank out to West Beach and back) and was glad at that. Whidbey is very hilly and the ride takes you off the main hwy and down into the beach communities - which means hills. But, it is a beautiful ride and I look forward to doing it again. The century will give you a good taste of the island - no doubt! I won't be riding it this year because DH and I are doing the Yakima Wine Ride with some friends, but will probably ride the full century in 2009.
