If it gets people riding bikes- people who normally would not attempt it because they are afraid bikes are uncomfortable, then that's a good thing. :)

But I hope those two guys in the picture are not planning to try to ride up those hills in the background. ;)
The other thing is that this would be a good bike for people who are not athletic, won't ride that much, but who want to bicycle to the corner store, around their suburban neighborhood, or for errands instead of using their car.....so where's the rack or basket??

Just today I had a middle aged (53) overweight co-worker say to me "I really wish I could ride a bike". We were talking about our other co-worker (who is 51) who's out riding RAGBRAI right now...I think I'll send her a link to that site.

A lot of people like the crank-forward design. It's not quite a regular bike, but not quite a recumbant, either. You can still have the appropriate seat hight, but put your feet solidly on the ground when you're stopped.

There are a few designs we see in the Hostel Shoppe catalog we get every year that look a lot lighter than these.

Whatever gets 'em moving, right?

about that crank forward. seems to me that it would make it harder to push. :confused: I KNOW i use my body weight sometimes to get that crank to go around.

Completely upright comfort bikes that you can neither stand on or use the seat back to push with are just beyond me. I just can't seem to find any comfortable position on them.

I can see an old college friend of mine riding one of those....if they sold for about $100. :rolleyes:
She likes the idea of riding a bike along a bike path, noodling along, taking in the sites, but not actually plunking down money for equipment (like a helmet or shorts, to say nothing of the bike.).

Is that actually available for purchase? I'm really interested in buying a trike for my mom. She never learned to ride a bike and now in her later years would like to know what it feels like to ride one. She's retired and would love a new hobby! I guess I've inspired her ;)

I just saw a woman riding a bike kind of like this one last night! It was actually really cute, she was on this trike with what looked like grocery bags in the basket. She had three kids following her on their bikes. All of the bikes were bright blue. It was like a momma duck and her babies crossing the street!

(too bad none of them were wearing helmets and they were riding the wrong direction on the sidewalk... :rolleyes:)

I question the angle of the bars though, looks uncomfortable. One could always level it a little more.

I'm kinda partial to Easy Racer bikes (I ride a Ti-Rush), but they are getting more and more into the trikes now too. Here is a link to their website and their trikes. If we had room to store one, I'd have a trike too. They are so much fun to ride.
