Sure we mostly fast forward through the commercials, but some of them are pretty good. We have a great series of ads for the Marin Century, our local bike ride. They are completely silent, except for birds or whatever you might hear on a bike ride here, and have some great footage of the places I ride. There are one or two other local bike shops that advertise as well.

It got me wondering what the regional ads are for the Tour de France.

Where do you live, and what local businesses are advertising on YOUR TdF broadcasts? Are they all cycling related? (All of our local ads are cycling related.)

We have one that keeps playing and playing and playing....
It was cute the first couple of times.....now, it's just getting old.
It's from a local bottled water distributer, DrinkMoreWater.
Here's the vid....

I don't think I've seen other local commercials.

That was cute.

There are no local commercials on our coverage. Mojitos rule. I'm only able to watch the last 9 kms most days anyway.

That is a funny ad.

Here's one of our local Marin Century ones:

and another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgvoI5tvKwI&feature=related

They really give you a sense for what it's like to ride here.

In prior years, they had a great emphasis on cows, which they've gone away from, which is too bad. We got lots of cows.

I have to admit that I haven't noticed any of the Marin Century ads......I wonder if they're not playing down here?

but the Mojito commercials make me want to put on a skimpy little dress and go dancing.

I like the Mike's Hard Lemonade ads, especially "We don't do soy."

I usually kick back at night to watch the Tour with a Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade. I find those ads ironic, because they're so "We're so hard and tough in a world gone soft." but my friend and I refer to those kind of drinks (along with all those flavored malt bevs) as "Girly Drinks."

Isn't that the whole "schtick" to the ad? That Hard Lemonade doesn't require hair on your chest to drink? I thought they were poking fun at themselves. Look at the one "for fat people" and the managers all look down at their bulging bellies.

I wondered how far in the Bay Area those Marin Century commercials went - but it wouldn't make any sense for them not to advertise on your side of the bridge. That's odd. Do you have the Bici Sport one?

We have the Mike's and mojito ones also. But maybe we're the only area with local commercials about bikes or bikes stores? That bike themed water as was hysterical.

We don't have any local commercials that I have seen. Maybe I am missing something. There do seem to be more bike company commercials this year, though.

We always have commercials from local bike shops. In the past it was Revolution. This year it's Conte's.

There might be others but I really don't pay much attention. In the morning I'm either switching over to the Weather Channel or local news, or I'm in another room getting ready for work, and at night I'm in and out of the kitchen making dinner or flipping around to see what else is on.

I have noticed that they're showing the Enzyte ("natural male enhancement") commercials, which I haven't seen anywhere in ages.

We've been watching the live coverage (the early morning one) and most of the commercials seem to be (we TIVO, so we skip through them for the most part) either sponsor commercials, SAAB and the like, or those $19.95 specials - call now and you can get more...you go Billy Mays..

Yes! If that's the same "get more" commercial I've seen 8 million times in the last week or so, then it has totally corrupted my mind. When Teigyr and I went to a local beach yesterday to do OWS practice, and the lifeguard said, "Each length is 135 yards, but the number you REALLY want is: 6 and 3/4!", I thought: WHAT IS THIS GUY TRYING TO TELL ME???

And then I figured out he meant, number of lengths that total a half-mile swim.
