Today is a birthday ride for one of our gang. I"m missing it.

I've had a fairly heavy training week (for me). The Carmichael MTB DVD on Monday, Tuesday the quick ride to work and home, Wednesday the ride and beverages with the gang (was the only girl with 17 guys...that go fast), Thursday a nice ride with a riding partner who's just back to riding after mat leave, Friday 2 kickboxing classes, yesterday an Ashtanga Yoga class (OOWWWW!). Last night while I was at the adult toy party at my lesbian dog groomer's house (great mix of people, I must say!!), I could feel something in my throat swelling up. This morning I woke up too hot, then too cold, the whole throat, ears thing and I opted to stay home. blah. did I over train? what's up with this? I want to be strong and fast and be able to ride with the gang ALL the time!

So I"ve opted to get back to working on a compromise of the computer project we tried to do for chrismas. It failed repeatedly then, it seems to be doing the same thing now. If I had the energy I'd be livid about it. grrrrrrrrrrrr

and the sun isn't quite shining enough for picture taking to be the thing to brighten my mood.

hey. I didn't even realize I was so grumpy until now! thanks for letting me vent. It will be over soon. :p

I'm not a wimp, though, am I???

Naw, you're not a wimp. I had the community crud that everyone was sharing at work, and I felt like death. I unfortunately got sick right before my vacation time. LAME! I spent most of it on the couch. Double lame. Took my bike out of town with me and it rained the whole time. Even more lame!

Just take it easy, take care of yourself, and you'll be back up in no time! I tried to do stuff while I was still pretty sick (ride my horse through the desert on a cold windy day) and it totally made me worse. My almost a nurse roommate kept telling me to lay in bed for a day. That never happened, it's so hard when you're typically active to lay low!

Phew! What a week! Sounds like you might have been burning the candle at both ends and it's your body's way of saying 'Give me a break'.

Maybe a nice day's rest will have you back on your feet. Some people like to battle on through when they're under the weather but I often think it's better to take one day off now, than carrying on, getting worse and ending up having to take the week off.

Have a nice day being kind to youself. Try some serious relaxation and I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon.

PS Adult toy party sounds like a giggle! :p

Hi Smurf - you must have posted just as I was writing. I agree, it's hard to slow down if your not normally a Slow Down sort of person.

Yep - certainly sounds like you needed a break. No wimpiness.

awwwwwwwww

thank you, all! I feel better with your positive encouragement. still didn't really have a total rest day. the after-the-ride party still had to be attended, and we had this computer media thing that didn't quite but almost worked that I had to be in charge of. I'm, once again, bagged, and am wishing that dinner could just make itself! Not even sure what will happen with work. They do pay me to be there, but , well, you know...

so, with regards to the toy party....one quote from the gang today was (no offense to anyone here) "those dikes really took a lot outta you, didn't they?" heehee I thought that was cute!

It really was a great bunch of people! Personality out the wazoo with nearly each of them! Not at all the stuff that porno dreams are made of, though.

thanks again, ladies, I do feel reassured and will soon feel better too, I'm sure!

now, if I could only find the medium speed switch....sometimes I feel like it's full on or full off. at the end of each day I drop into bed and fall asleep almost instantly. I think it might be adult ADD, or I've learned a lot from my border collies! In the interest of being a better athlete, I'm gonna try, though! :)
