Wet roads & bad night vision

Okie dokie,

I do hope someone else out there can help me find a solution to a small problem.

One of my routes to work(i don't call it a "commute", it's a "training" ride..) causes annoyances when it's dark & been raining or has just stopped raining. I ride in the dark to & from work as it's "winter" down here. I wear glasses & can't see stuff on the road at the best of times, never mind in the dark & in wet conditions..:rolleyes:

I find I can't see my lights-even my new ones-when riding in the wet. Also, the shininess of the wet roads in the dark confuses me, causing me to slow wayyy down. It's starting to annoy the sheepies out of me :mad:

Would wearing clear lenses with my sunnies at night help? What else can I do? Night vision goggles?

I can go the other way, 31km and not deal with any roads however that won't solve the problem.

Sorry, I can't help. Have the same problem in winther here though, only I find the wet roads help. I ride country lanes most of the time on my training rides which means no road lighting. My bike light reflecting off the wet road helps me distinguish the road from the field next to it. I still have to slow way down in winter and in places ride on memory because I can hardly see where the road is. Curious to see if anyone else has a good solution I might try when winter comes up here.

I'm not going to be any help, either. When I commuted, I just went by other means in the wet and dark. For me, that meant commuting by bike in the mornings and taking the Metro home in the evenings.

If you're having a hard time seeing, other people are, too. Those folks are in cars. Please be careful.

Tulip-the road I follow home is fairly quiet & most of the traffic is going the other way..It's lit but not well enough for my eyes & lights :o

I have a set of clear lenses for my Rudy Project sunnies awaiting & shall give them a shot next week. They're the only company that had a pair of sunnies that I could fit my prescription in. Expensive but worth every $$$

I use yellow lenses on my motorcycle at night. Very helpful. Don't ride the bicycle much past dusk.

I have prescription glasses with anti glare coating. You have to be careful when cleaning them because they scratch easily, and the highest grade of coating is the best, but expensive. For me, and night driving with the glare of headlights, and all the mirrors on the bus, it's like having HD vision! I've never tried to ride a bike in the dark though.
