View Full Version : Online community yard sale.....

Okay, here's the thing. I have quite a few items that I need to clean out and get rid of, but I haven't the motivation......... SO..............I am thinking that we should have an online yard sale and I am inviting anyone else who wants to participate and needs the motivation like I do to join in.............
The day of the yard sale (for procrastinators who need a deadline like myself) will be: Sunday, July 27th. Post your stuff any time that day. That gives us all time to dig out stuff in our closets, drawers, boxes, garages, and everything else, take pictures, and post them online on Sunday.
If I am overstepping bounds, please, administrator, give me a neck choke, smack upside the head, or rip out my fingernails. Just don't ban me from the forum! :)
You are all invited, so dig out the goodies and the camera!

Cool idea! Where should we make these posts, though? I vote that we post our items in this forum with a prefix in the post title of "Yard Sale: "
I have a few things I've been meaning to put up on CraigsList or Ebay, but this will give me incentive to get organized and offer the stuff here first.

That's the plan, then. One vote democracy wins. All in favor say "I". All opposed, sorry! ;):D

Money? S&H charges? (that makes 2 questions, but they both involve money)

Some of my items, I'd like to give away for free.
So, when the time comes, should we post the items that require compensation in this forum; and the free ones in "free" forum?
madscot13
07-17-2008, 08:07 PM
could we also edit the same post for solds? none of this searching if an item is take or whatever.
questions for the item could be pm'd directly and then the original post could also be edited and that question and answer posted.
just trying to prevent post clutter

good idea, madscot. I think you can sstill edit within a day or so of a post, so if it's all done the same day... it should work

I think we should edit our posts as "sold"
I personally will take pay pal for $$ - that way no one will take me to the cleaners that isn't a regular here. I trust the lot of you!
I would recommend that if you aren't using pay pal and you sell an item to a name that you don't recognize, that you NOT send the item to the buyer until the check clears the bank.

And can we start now, here .... or do we need to wait for Sunday? My vote is people start in because not everyone has time on the weekend, 'cause I can't wear these size 38 Sidis.

Is it possible to have one thread but many posts? and posts with pictures but not giant pictures?
that way we could just scroll down and look at all of the different items (and the items that were sold) without having to click to much. And also it makes it easier for people who have threads that have already been started and then they won't get pushed back too far.

These are size 38, like the SIDIs above you'll need insoles like SmartFeet as I took the stock ones out and I'm keepin the Smartfeet berry insoles.

OK, here's my list. I don't have pictures but if anyone is interested in anything I will be happy to take some pics of the item and pm them.
1. Fizik Vitesse HP saddle. White/pink. Less than 50 miles on this, it looks absolutely brand new. It is ICS-compatible (that is, it has a fitting for Fizik's snap-on bag/light). In the interest of full disclosure, this saddle came with one slightly loose rail. It doesn't affect saddle adjustment and it's not going anywhere (that is, it's not going to get worse), but it can squeak when you tighten the saddle. $75 including shipping.
2. SOLD. Specialized Alias 143 saddle. Black with silver accents. This has a few hundred miles on it. It is in excellent condition but shows some wear. $35 including shipping (would take offers on this too).
3. Ritchey Pro Biomax handlebars, 40cm, 31.8 diameter. These came stock on my bike, but were too big for me -- I switched them out almost immediately, I don't think I've even ridden them outside, so they look quite new. If you are interested in these, I will warn you that I will be a little slower to ship these than the other items, since I need to clean off residue from the original tape first (don't worry, I will be very careful and won't damage the finish -- in fact, I'd be happy for someone to claim them, but wait to pay until I can send pictures of the cleaned bars so we can be sure you are happy with what you get). $30 including shipping.
4. FSA SL-K Carbon seatpost, 31.8 diameter, 300mm long. This has a smidgen of setback (I think it's about 20mm). Weighs in at 226g on my digital kitchen scale. Excellent condition. $30 including shipping.
5. No name carbon seatpost. This came stock on my Scott Contessa CR1 Pro (the CR1 is second to the top of Scott's lineup, and their highest level WSD bike. It came spec'd with full Ultegra, so it doesn't seem like they took too many component shortcuts...). It has no branding marks at all, but it appears to be a nice, kind of mid-level carbon post -- it is NOT carbon-wrapped aluminum. It weighs in at 233g on my scale. Straight, no setback at all. Length is not marked but distance from center of clamp to end is the same as the FSA post, so I would tentatively call it a 300mm post. Beautiful condition, and a very aesthetically attractive post too, for what it's worth. $30 including shipping.
6. Scott Components stem, 80mm, 31.8 diameter. Weighs in at 149g. This stem came stock on my bike, and I needed a longer one. It is in brand-new condition, and would be a good option if you are "testing" various stems for length and don't want to invest a lot of money until you know exactly what you need. It is a "straight" rise stem -- i.e., the angle is the same no matter which way you flip it. I believe this makes it a 0/90 stem? I get confused on stem angles, but basically it will result in a positive rise that mirrors your HT angle. $15 including shipping.
7. Cannondale Fire stem, 31.8 diameter, +/- 8 degree rise. It is marked 110 but measures 120 c-c no matter how hard I try to get 110. I bought this trade-in stem at my bike fitting when I was trying out different setups. It is in very good condition, and it is very light for its length at 120g. $15 including shipping.
8. Bianchi Componenti stem, 100mm, 26.0 diameter. No idea what the rise on this is, it has a bit of rise but not an extreme rise, probably between 6 and 8 degrees if I had to guess, but that's just a guess. 148g. Good condition but shows more wear than the others. Again, good if you're testing stems. $15 including shipping.
Maybe more to come...

Some jerseys, maybe more to come...
1. SOLD. Giordana Fusion Short Sleeve Jersey, size small, pink/white. It's a 2007 jersey, and no one has the pink in stock any more, so I couldn't find a pic, but here's a pic of the jersey style:
6606
and here's the color (keep in mind, my jersey DOES have the white stripes and piping shown in the picture above, and a full-length zipper):
6605
Worn once. Looks brand new. This jersey is very pretty and it's nicely made as well. It's just too small for me. I'm a size 4, 5'6", 33" bust. This jersey actually fits through the shoulder and bust, but seems to be proportioned overall for someone who's closer to 5'0". I would not recommend this to someone who is thinner than me but just as tall -- I think it would fit someone shorter and size 2-4 (esp on the smaller side of that range) quite well. Asking $20 including shipping.
2. Sugoi Forma Sleeveless Jersey, size small, Rave/white. Here's a picture:
6604
Worn a few times, but no signs of wear. This one fits me very well and generally I like it -- I'm getting rid of it because the color clashes with my bike. It has side panels (the white part) made of that nice super-wicking Sugoi mesh. Asking $15 including shipping.
3. Gore Vento vest.
This vest has never been worn, only tried on. It is black, size small. Details below:
http://www.terrybicycles.com/gore/de...l?item_no=5154
It's a nice vest and comes with its own little storage pouch. It's a trim cut, but fits me well (I'm 4/6, probably more 4ish on top, and it seems true to size, though trim as mentioned). Like everything I've had from Gore, it's tailored and finished beautifully.
So why am I selling it? It's lined in a very lightweight mesh, and for some reason the double layer feels fussy to me. As shown in the detail (if you follow the link above), the back of the vest is mostly mesh, so I imagine it is quite well ventilated, and is made with Gore windstopper, so it should also be an effective wind blocking layer.
$50 including shipping.
More notes on the Gore vest:
Fabric:
The fabric is lightweight, but not ultra lightweight and compressible like, say, Pearl Izumi's translucent Optik fabric.
It feels a bit like tyvek, perhaps a tad heavier (it's been a long time since I've actually FELT tyvek, though...). It has more of a "papery" feel than a "fabric-y" feel. It seems as though it would NOT hold moisture at all. As mentioned above, it is fully lined in a very light mesh, with a mesh back panel.
Fit:
Plenty of room in the shoulders even in a "bike tuck" (and I usually have to go up to medium in PI jackets for shoulder room). However, overall, very close-fitting. I'm an A-cup (33" chest), and the vest fits perfectly through the bust... I would imagine on a full B-cup, it would pull through the bust. It's very nicely cut (I have a few Gore jerseys and one thing I've noticed is that they tend to be very nicely tailored), but very fitted. It's not at all constricting on me, and I wouldn't even say that it runs small, but it's definitely not a "small/medium", and would fit best over a sort of "race fit" jersey, not anything too baggy.

This is a really nice shoe. I liked the stiff feel and the streamlined look, and they felt cool even on a hot century. If you have a "normal" size nine or nine and a half, your foot will love this shoe.

1. Basil Catu rear basket. I paid $65 for this. I see it's on Amazon for $54. I'll sell for $45 Plus shipping. Only used a few times and includes all hardware and instructions. Okay, the instructions are in English by people who don't speak English as their first language. Amusing if nothing else...
More can be found here (http://www.amazon.com/Basil-Catu-Bicycle-Basket-Titanium/dp/B000YO5RPK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1217120367&sr=8-3).

Hello all,
I still have a few saddles for sale. The first is an SSM Glamour Aspide Arrowhead-- it is 155 at its widest point. It is in great condition with only light marks on the rails.. see attached photos. The other is a Jett 143, used but still functional. There's a tear on the back right corner (see pics). I'd like $80 for the SSM and $30 for the Jett, shipping included for both, but feel free to make an offer. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'd like to sell my Shimano PD-647 SPD Clipless Pedals. These are 2-sided clipless pedals which also have a large, sturdy resin cage which allows you to ride unclipped or with non-cleated shoes.
Features:
- Off-road racing pedal
- Anodized aluminum pedal body
- High-impact resign cage
- Adjustable cleat tension with indicators
- Mud shedding design
- 2-sided pop-up bindings put the pedal body at a 12.5 degree angle for fast and easy entry
Link to pic & description on Shimano website: http://bike.shimano.com/catalog/cycle/products/component.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441763018&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302040276&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181419&bmUID=1217181323929
These pedals really helped my riding because they gave me the confidence to try challenging technical sections without fear of not being able to unclip quickly enough. I used them pretty regularly for about 6 months on my full suspension MTB and even rode them once on a long, tough DH course in NorCal. They've served me well, but since then I've bought some regular SPD pedals to use on my MTB.
These sell in stores for $130. I'll sell them for $69 OBO + shipping. Please PM me if you're interested.

More:
The shoes are Shimano SPD SL's. Size 43. Selling b/c I got a pair of SIDI's. The Shimano's were used only half of one season and I bet they have roughly 500 miles on them. I put the original insoles back in them, they are unused (I had some superfeet insoles in them). The left shoe has a little bit of a stain on them which will most likely come out. I think (ssshhh....) that it was from a chocolate milkshake :o that I had on the fly. Yours for $25 + $7 shipping.
The shorts are Terry shorts, size M with about a 12 inch flat waist, so again, 24" unstretched. Lightweight chamois. Great shape. I little pilling on the inside of one leg, most likely from rubbing velcro on my bike seat bag. Yours for $15 + $7 for shipping.
I will accept money orders or paypal. I am willing to negotiate. Thanks!!

Always a day late and a dollar short.
I have for sale
1. Specialized Road shoes - size 42. They were really really comfortable but too big. :( They have Speedplay X-5 cleats, and cleat covers.
2. Speedplay X-5 pedals.
I will sell the shoes without the cleats & pedals, or preferably the whole package.
Used together for 4-1/2 months, total about 450 miles.
I will sell the package for $125, postage to continental US included.

Shimano PD-647 pedals have been sold

I would also sell the lot of three stems for oh, $20 including shipping... Good deal if you think you need something between 80 and 110 but you're not sure quite what :D:D:D...
AND, all of the clothing items are now sold.

I think it would get kind of long and convoluted and confusing and a lot of work to read through if it just kept going. (and too much like the For Sale and Wanted threads we already have)
Kinda like the difference between a dribble and a wave.
Shopping the yard sale in one juicy burst was a hoot, knowing that everything I was seeing was current.
I'd be happy to check out the goods in the September yard sale! :p

Checking out the yard sales on that particular day was fun. Maybe we could just agree on something like "the third Sunday of the month."
