Okay, so I wasn't quite sure where Kentucky fits into the "Places to Ride" category...sorta Midwest, sorta Southeast...??
But...I am considering moving home to Kentucky from Colorado and am wondering if there are other women cyclists out there, and where they ride. I just got into road riding this spring, and want to keep it up when I do move back. I had my bike home with me in June and rode in the Frankfort/Midway/Georgetown area. Any other favorite rides?
Thanks for any and all tips!

Where in Kentucky do you plan to settle? The Louisville Bicycle Club is very active and puts on several rides each day. I know there is a cycling club in the Lexington area (Bluegrass Cycle Club) but I've heard through the grapevine they currently are not very active.
If you are going to be in the area in Sept. I would highly recommend the Old Kentucky Home Tour. This year I believe it will be held Sept 13-14. You will have several options on the first day - a 50, 70 and 100 mile routes to choose from. The SAGs are wonderful and the lunch stop in Fairfield is excellent. The second day is a 55 mile route and the cookie stop is awesome. Both days will take you through some beautiful countryside (you will travel through Jefferson, Bullitt, Nelson and Spencer counties).
I live in Shelbyville, Ky (half way between Louisville and Lexington). Feel free to contact me.

I live in the Berea area but cycle all over Kentucky - whether it be road or mountain biking. There's plenty of both. The Bluegrass Cycling Club is not as active as the Louisville Cycling Club, but still a nice group of people and a good resource.
mapmyride.com is a wonderful way to get to see some breathtaking country! Both of the above groups are great for keeping you up-to-date on upcoming rides. I have my favorite organized rides, just like everyone else. It's all relative and depends on what you like.
Cave Run Lake is wonderful with trails for mountain biking.
Any questions, let me know! I'd be thrilled to share my (limited) knowledge of the area.
