What do do with an old collection of items

When we went back to Canada, I had to clear out a few boxes I had stored at me mom's house. The small containers arrived the other day and i'm now pondering what to do with a few items i used to & sometimes still do collect.

I have 3 cookie tins plus my guide hat full of pins from travelling, girl guide/pathfinder days, commonwealth games etc. I would hate for them to just sit in the tins and collect dust yet again!:rolleyes:

So, any ideas on how to display a large amount of pins? I have all my old badges on a nice warm camp blanket :). Also, my guide hat is VERY heavy and wondering what could i store it on?

The way my friends and I handle this is to get a piece or two of fabric and put all the pins on the fabric. Then you can display the fabric anywhere you wish; on a door, over a curtain, on the wall, etc.

Do you like them? (obviously you do) Options include those coffee tables built with a glass area and put them on display there, I like shadowboxes for collectables, you can mix that in with pictures of events associated with the pins .... or not.

One project on my back burner is make a cork bulletin board out of my wine bottle cork collection and put the patches there.

Trek-I can't part with them :eek:. A shadowbox sounds interesting. A cool coffee table wouldn't go amiss either :cool:

I found my old guide hat, full of pins, today in the garage and wondering the same thing!
