I see Trisports has fancy bags for your gear. Any value to a special bag?

I've never bothered with one. Probably bigger than a typical bag & has mesh for wet stuff and dedicated spots for your helmet, shoes. Too pricey for me, though.

A lot of people I've seen use the smaller plastic storage boxes, such as you'd use for sweaters under a bed. Cheap. Good if it rains too.

I use a transition bag. I like it because I can fit everything in it, (it even has a race day checklist printed up on it), and it works back pack fashion. So if I end up having to park really far away I can put it on my back and ride to the race area. They are expensive but I got mine as a Bday gift from my DH. He loves me.

The downside of tubs (besides having to carry them which is hard to do if you're pushing a bike along too) is that they take up a lot of room in your transition and if it's a crowded race you may not have space for a tub.

I take things out of my bag and set up my transition, then I put my bag aside out of the way of the competitors. That way I need minimal space and can usually get a better spot in the transition zone.

But of course, I tend to show up at the last minute. If you're early none of that is an issue.

Where do you put your wetsuit after you take it off?

I throw it on the ground somewhere around/on my towel. I'm not too specific, as long as it's in my area.

I used a backpack yesterday with external lash points. It worked great. Put the wesuit on the outside.

I usually use a backpack I got at Target. Under $15 so it fits my budget. I've lusted after a really nice transition bag, but don't see the need. I recently bought a huge mesh tote from Old Navy (found it at a thrift store- can you tell I'm a cheapskate?:p) for $2 and it's my new favorite transition bag. I can even throw it on the back sorta like a backpack when I need to ride my bike to transition.
I'm a no-frills kinda racer, tho.

I still lust after a "real" transition bag. ;)
