after 18 months ive managed to gain weight and get up to 49.4 kg,and started to feel stronger on the bike,(im 5'5")

but then i panicked and started cutting back on my food intake, but still trained as normal,THEN i caught a virus and really couldnt physically ride a bike more than 90-120mins a day as i had a fever.my white blood cell count shot down to 2.4.

im loads better now, buit still bike weak and very low emotionally,my weight is stable, which i cant understand as im eating 400 calories less a day but now trying to train like how i used to,could this be because im not eating enough,IF i start to eat only 100 calories a day more, would i be less moody and bike stronger, will my metabolism absorb it so i dont gain weight?ho hum

im always hungry but eat 2,500-2750 calories a day HMMMMMMMM

also the osteoporosis is getting worse

Hey HS! Where have you been? Nice to see you back!!

I don't know exactly how to help you in terms of food..:( Just make sure you're taking care of yourself!

Please take care of yourself, get to a healthy strong weight, and PLEASE don't drain yourself by training when you have low WBC and Fever??!!

Even with moderate exercise your needs will be around 2400 kcal/day, what with lots of training that you're doing - maybe you need more. Have you talked to a nutritionist? Also about the osteoporosis. We know your predicament, this is serious. Get the support you need.

I would park the bike and recover for a while. I'll be doing that this week. Eating greasy food has finally caught up to me (will I ever learn?).

I had a dietician tell me once "eat for performance". That has always stuck with me. Stop thinking of gaining weight and eat to fuel your workout with a careful eye on portion size. Your calorie range seems to be adequate, but I would say find someone that specializes in sports nutrition. Not sure what they call them over there (dietician? nutritionist?)

Welcome back, HS. I wish you were feeling more wonderful, but I'm glad to see you nonetheless!

Please eat, let yourself recover and ease back to training slowly and patiently! Your body has obviously been through a trauma with this virus and what it needs most is time and nutrients to heal!

I agree - talk to a nutritionist / dietitian to get the best plan for replenishing your body with the most nutrient rich foods you can!

Sending butterflies for your speedy recovery!

Hugs, too,
~T~

Osteoporosis is serious and dangerous. If you crack vertebrae, you won't be able to train at all. Nerve damage can make your arms & legs numb. Think about it.

Training 1.5 to 2.0 hours/day with a fever and low WBC is NOT normal. You are beating the crap out of the only body you'll ever have. It can't go on forever.

I hope that you will get some help very soon.

Please take care of yourself. Osteoporsis can cause all sorts of issues. I know it is hard to cut back on training but it mav not be a bad idea right now.
