My husband just bought a GIANT Trance Mountain bike. His birthday is next week (july 5). I want to buy him something for biking. He has a camelback, jersey and shorts. Can anyone give me some unique ideas. He wants to buy his own tool kit, so that's out.

You can never have enough jerseys and shorts in my opinion. ;)

Or shoes . . .

This might be a dumb question, but did the Trance come with pedals? Did he throw some crappy pedals on it that were just laying around? How about some awesome pedals that he'd never spend the coin for himself?
Otherwise, I vote for jerseys and shorts. The more that my DH has, the fewer times a week I'm washing bike clothes ;)

He bought clips & the shoes. He has taken some nasty falls, maybe I could get him something to patch up his Boo-Boos!!!

Skinz shin guards - the basic series are nice for XC riding.

Bike Cube (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___48425?&&CS_003=2477120&CS_010=48425) for all the stuff. It's worth it's weight in gold.

They JUST had that on Chainlove - yesterday, maybe?
They've been repeating lots of stuff too - hopefully it'll be back!

does he have a computer for it yet? or a computer/heart rate combo, or a gps system? helmet cam? (my husband loves the random electronic devices!)

He has:
shoes, computer helmet, socks, camelback, gloves, lubes, food.
If he wants to clean the bike, he puts it on the bike rack on his vehicle. He only has 1 pair of socks. He hates wool, but any ideas on other types?

DeFeet socks are great.
So are you looking for stocking stuffer things (socks, tubes, trail food, Brave Soldier Crash Pack :), etc), bigger coin (tires, work stand), or excessively expensive things (off-season trainer, wheels)?
Just had to add ... me and DH both have bike cubes. Love 'em! DH didn't think they were such a great gift at first ... he was pretty attached to the miscellaneous plastic grocery bag method of packing. But he's come around.
Also, if he does mostly DH/FR stuff on established trail networks, maybe he wouldn't be as keen on a GPS. But my favorite bit of gear is my Garmin!! It's saved me a few times, and has been a great training buddy.

I personally like those athletic socks that are an acrylic blend rather than cotton.

sock guy, da feet, lots of choices for socks.
My hubby was sold on the bike rack/ hang it from the ceiling method until we got a work stand. Do you have a good set of bike tools? More jerseys?

I second the work stand. I bought this one (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=18234&srccode=2047&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-Datafeed-_-null-_-null) for hubby last year and we use it a lot.
