Actually I have been home since Tuesday but have done nothing but run since I got home. The Grand Canyon was extraordinary.
I was so excited when I saw a bunch of bikers while we were traveling there, and as we looked, it was the folks in the ride across America!!! I wanted to stop and talk to them and give them encouragment and

Then when we were traveling to Sedona via Highway 89 I think Oak Canyon drive or something like that, there were more cyclist. I have to say, that road was very curvy and lots of killer hills and no shoulder at all, and it scared me watching them ride it. I don't think they were the ride across America folks, I think it was a different group, but I sure did worry about them riding it. It is a beautiful drive and while we were driving it and looking at the scenery, we went to pull over in one of the out looks and people were honking at us for slowing down and holding them up. Then we stopped in one of the parks to eat lunch and there was a wreck right out by the road. I guess the gas prices are still not high enough, cause most folks are not slowing down, at least not the ones we were so privledged to be passed by. LOL

I did worry about the folks on the cycles but I never heard anything on the news and when we came back out there were no accidents except for the one set of cars. I was glad of that.

Anyway, we had a wonderul time. I never got a chance to ride my bike, we hit the floor running everyday to go see the sites, and we were with another couple friend of ours so I just let it go and didn't push the issue.

It is soooo beautiful there, and the weather compared to here was terrific. It was hot, but it wasn't humid like it is here and it felt so good. I had chapped lips the whole time, but I didn't care because I wasn't sweating bullets. LOL

If I can find the picutures of the riders I will post them. I have so much stuff to go through and sooooo many picutres.

It's good to be home, and hopefully next week and can get back on my bike and get myself better prepared for the next organized ride I go on, which should be in August I think.

Oooh, I'm in envy! We went to the GC in May 2006 and had an amazing time. Also did the drive from Flagstaff to Sedona, which was breathtaking (and yes, very scary to imagine riding -- curvy and not very wide). We stayed in Sedona for two nights, and I just couldn't believe the red-rock views right out our Best Western hotel window! Did lots of hiking. I fell head-over-heals in love with the southwest.

I completely know what you mean about the dry heat. I liked it SO much better than our humid heat here in NC. We'd be hiking in the 90s and not even sweating! How awesome!

I do hope you'll post some of your photos -- I'd love to see them and reminisce!

Glad you had a great time!

Emily

Hey that sounds wonderful! I bet you got some real walking workouts on that 'vacation'! :p
You should put your pix up on a Flicker album or something so everyone can go look at them. :)

When we went to Fort Davis I was amazed how 90 there felt like 80 here. The dry heat really is different. I join the request for photos, the GC is on ym bucket list as well.
