I was just curious, so I measured Cassie and Tucker's tails. Very hard to do BTW. :D
Cassie's tail is 10 inches. She has a couple of little bumps in it leading us to believe it was broken before we got her.
Tucker's tail is at least 12 inches. He was less than cooperative.

Measuring Miss Kitty's tail should be interesting. She hates having her tail touched.
Reminds me of the late, great Grey Kitty. He loved to have his tail pulled. I would grab his tail. Depending on how firmly I grabbed his tail was how hard he pulled back. If I barely had it, he would pull just hard enough to not get away, looking like he was exerting great effort.
He was so funny.

But how long are their torsos? And what is the torso to tail ratio? :)

Measuring their tails was hard enough. I'm not going to attempt the torso just yet.

Or...how to measure the volume of a cat http://www.evilmadscientist.com/article.php/catvolume . A couple of more small shipments from Amazon and we might have that measurement.....

You clearly have too much time on your hands now that school is out.

My poor little kitty's don't really have tails. Mama kitty is feral and her tail is just a nub, about an inch but the fur that hangs off it is long and soft. Punk has a mangled looking crooked long nub. She was born that way but it really looks kinda twisted. She is part manx. I used to have 2 kitties with very long beautiful tails, they are both gone now and I miss stroking their tails. I love kitties.

I used to have a Maine Coon cat. His tail was longer than his body. If he liked you he would stand next to you and wrap his tail around your leg.
I do miss my Fuzz. He was the greatest cat.

Today and tomorrow are recovery days. Clearly I needed some recovery. I just got up from a two hour nap. Cassie Cat did snooze with me.

We recently had our puppies' tails docked. I didn't think to keep them  but the vet offered them to my kids for show and tell or to take to scout camp and put in an unsuspecting scout's pillowcase. They declined. :D

My little By Bo has a stumpy tail that is probably only 3 inches long. And is all crooked at the end. I love it though. We call him sausage tail. I should measure Aki's it is reallly long. but she is not very good at holding still.

I have 2 kitties with tails exactly like Motochicks, in a previous message.
They are inside cats, sisters, with manx bloodlines, and when they were little, I have never seen cats that could wreak such destruction. Fortunately I'm not a very fussy person!

Barbie's tail is 10.5" she's a small cat, so this tail looks long on her.
Enza's tail is 11.5" long. she has a long body, so her tail looks short and thick. When I can find Aggie I'll measure her tail too.

ok here we go:
Razz, the old man - 11 inches
Robbie & River (litter mates, part Siamese with a crook at the end of their tails) - 10 inches
Lucy - the woman of the house - 9.5 inches

The best cats I have ever had have all been Manx cats. Well except one beautiful little petite siamese that could hunt like crazy. If my DH ever gives in to my excessive requests for a cat I would like another Manx. I have had two stumpies and one with a half tail.
I love my Schnauzers but I really want a cat, I haven't had one in 6 years after having one all my life!

I can't imagine a cat-less life. If he can have dogs; you deserve to be able to have a couple of cats to balance the dogginess of your life.

Ummm... They are my dogs. He likes large dogs and instead he has miniature schnauzers. :p Heidi loves cats, they don't like her hyperness. Maggie is blind and would never know they were there!
I also want an Alpaca and I think my homeowner's association only says no horses, cows, goats or chickens. :D

My Dear Departed Bozo Kitty (aka the best cat on the planet, way back then anyhow) had no tail.
Since I "inherited" him (with the help of the shaman who also lived in my building - yep she "willed me" to adopt him, and clearly it worked :D ) at the tender age of 14 or thereabouts, I don't know what became of said tail, but my guess was he lost it somewhere along his long and adventurous life.
All he had left of his tail was a bit of a stub, and it was such a hoot when he was agitated, since that stub would spin around like a little helicopter. :D

Cooler, who has short hair, appears to have a 12" tail.
Fizler, who is a puffball, appears to have a 13" tail, but that last inch could be all fur. He carries his tail like Pepi Le Pew, straight up, but with the last two inches at a right angle pointing forward.
I figured out the best way to measure Cooler's tail is to get him all mad at the dog, so he holds it up straight and high, then sneak up to him with the ruler! Watch out for those claws, though!

Our aging Tiger T. (Ginger) Cat is what we call 'two rings short of a tail.' His black littermates were bob tailed, and what his tail lacks in length he makes up for in girth; When he puffs that sucker out it is nearly 10" around!
Storm has a 10.5" tail. He's well balanced so it suits him well. (BTW - he's the cat in my avatar)
