Hey all,
So I'm building up a single-speed cross bike. I've ridden fixed/free for quite a while with a variety of ratio's. My previous ratio was 42x16, but I want something a little more "spinny" to up my cadence and be able to climb better. I'm upgrading my cranks to Sugino 75 and I think I'm going to get a 44t chain-ring and a 19t White Industries freewheel, thus making my new ratio 44x19. I rode a friends bike yesterday that was 46x19, but it wasn't really what I was looking for.
Thoughts? I'm only 5'2" (or three on a good day), so my legs are pretty short, plus I'm planning on doing (another) 200k in a few weeks in which I'd like to ride this new single-speed. I live in Portland, OR and I'm a courier so I typically climb a little here and there. This 200k will be a little hilly (mostly gradual climbs), but nothing out of control.
Anyways, idea's for a nice all around/agressive cross ratio would be helpful. Thanks!
