Hi there.
I'll be in Seattle for work next week...the week of June 23rd -- arrive on the 22nd, depart on the 27th.
I'll be in workshops most of the day...staying in Lake Union..but I should be free in the evenings.
I'd love to see Seattle...meet some TE forum friends.
Anybody around? Care to hook up for a bike ride, a walk, dinner?
Show me what makes your fair city so wonderful!! :D

I might be able to ride to where you are one of those evenings. It sounds like you are taking your bike with you?

I wish.
I might consider renting if I could find a place. Know any?

Recycled Cycles ( www.recycledcycles.com ), but they are probably at the other end of Lake Union from where you'll be staying. Worth looking into, none the less.
(I'll be in San Francisco the week you are here.)

I work in the S. Lake Union neighborhood . . . maybe some folks would be interested in getting together for happy hour?

Happy hour sounds good to me! What day(s) are you considering?
(OT - also, Jocelyn - did you ride Flying Wheels? If so, I missed you...too busy directing folks at registration and flagging down those with ill-fitted helmets!).

Happy Hour sounds good, too.
Recycled Cycles looks like a great place to go play hookey!
I'm working on getting the agenda for our workshop. I don't think anything is planned for evenings, so I think most any evening - Sunday thru Thursday - would work.
This would be great! I'd love to put some faces to avatars! :D

Right now Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday would work for me. I'll do some investigating as to a good nearby happy hour.
Mary -- alas, FW was not meant to be! My bosses have been running me ragged since Memorial Day, which led to me missing out on Pilates workouts, and only having time/energy to cycle to work twice during that whole period. Boo. Felt like I was putting way to much weight on my hands on the way home on Friday. And the lumbar just wanted to cave in. So I just needed to sleep in and take it easy Saturday.
Hope you had a great time, though . . . I had been looking forward to checking in with you. Hope the injuries are continuing to heal. Have you gotten your bike back yet?

Hey Jocelyn -
Cool - Mon, Tue, or Thur would work for me too...and there are a number of good happy hour places in S. Lake Union area...Joey's, Harborside, and the like...
Going to get my bike on Friday, as the prosecutor has been holding it ever since 4/27, to get lots of pics for his trial prep. I'll be bringing it to my Seven rep next Monday afternoon, so a visit with another Seven owner (aka 7rider!) will be supportive and therapeutic too, methinks!

Just sent a PM to Mary.
Tuesday, a group dinner is planned with my working group, so it's out. :(
Any other night should work, pending your availability.

Monday might work for me...I'll be in Fremont until 5-5:30, so I could swing by somewhere at So Lake Union after that, possibly.

. . . or we could meet in Fremont. It'll give 7rider a chance to see another part of Seattle, after all. And it's convenient for me, as it's on my way home.

Either of those should work for me.
Where's Freemont in relation to Lake Union? Walkable? How's public transit? I won't have a car.

it's between 2 and 3 miles depending on where exactly you'll be. We're all assuming you're going to rent a bike for the week :)

Do you know where in Lake Union you'll be spending most of your time? If you're in S.L.U. I can meet you and we can walk or bus up to Fremont. It's really not very far.

My hotel is listed as "Seattle Downtown/Lake Union" on Fairvew Ave. North
I had eliminated bike rental from my list of options. When I was in Boulder, the logistics of it just didn't work for me. :( I'm assuming the same here.

oh, I know where that is. it's a couple blocks from Seattle Center.
You're essentially downtown.

Greetings from Seattle!
The eagle has landed...and only an hour and a half delay in Denver. Thank you, United!;)
Just got back from eating far too much at a Crab place. Lots of loud airplane taxis taking off right by our outdoor table and a view of the Space Needle nearby.
So did we settle on Monday or Thursday? My meeting/workshops end around 5 p.m. each day. So anytime after that is cool. Still need to pick up a map from the front desk so I can get a sense of the lay of the land.
I'm excited to meet some west-coast TE'ers. :)

Welcome to Seattle!
I just left you a VM. If you're on Westlake Ave. N., there's a great place near you called Paddy Coyne's. Oh, and you're not far from the REI flagship store, either.
Can we get a consensus going? Paddy Coyne's, Monday eve, 5:30'ish?
If that doesn't work, we may have to try for Thursday . . .

remember the time zone difference, 7rider and try to start settling down soon...it's almost midnight, your time, right?
Sounds like you were right next to the "runway in the lake" for Lake Union Air?
I have us meeting somewhere tomorrow...we'll keep it closer to you, so that you don't have to go far...waiting to hear more from Jocelyn.
Mimi, are you going to ride and join us?
Any other Seattle-area TE'ers?

Let's aim for 6 at Paddy's on Monday. I'll chat with Marriott staff on how best to get there. I'm actually on Fairview Ave. The "airport" looked to be across the water from us (they just flew over our heads).
Yes, it's now after midnight for me and I'm about to call it a night. Bummer you can't make it Mimi. I would have loved to meet you. B/t here and BiJo, you guys are famous! Early dinner! Join us for apres....

My schedule is divine for me but impractical for the outside world. I am working 3:30pm - 2am mon-thurs. So early afternoon coffee or a friday to sunday meet-up is good but other than that, I'm thinking nobody but DH wants to see me at 3am?
Dang. Unless (ahem) you leave from the airport on a monday - thursday! I am generally up for getting out when I can though it has to be onsite.

I'll try to get to Paddy's for 6 (I'll be in brown).
Teigyr...I fly out Friday at 7 a.m. Bummer I'll miss you, too.
Jocelyn - I have your VM with your # - and you have mine (texting is beyond my technical capabilities...sorry! ;)). I'll call if there are any issues.....I may be able to post at lunch....
See you soon!

(well, a tiny contingent anyway!)
Just got home from a delightful visit in our fair city with 7rider and jocelynlf. Here's a pic of the 3 of us, after we had the waitstaff clear away all of 7rider's beer bottles...sheesh, that girl can put it away;):D
I'm glad we had a chance to meet up and chat and hopefully you'll have a great week in Seattle, R - maybe even get some work done too?
Thanks, jocelyn, for pulling this together (and I told 7rider to call YOU, if she awakens at 3AM again!:p )
7rider, I'm praying and pulling for your rider friend Terry too; I hope he keeps recovering and regaining his health.

Mary, what a fantastic picture!!! I am so sad I had to miss it. And a collection of beer bottles is nothing to be ashamed of :D:p:D And black & tan...it gladdens my Irish heart.
7rider, I hope we get another chance to meet up. I hope you had fun here!!! I would have felt intimidated amongst the Seven riders because it IS my dream bike after all. It's too bad I will be asleep when you leave on friday but if anything changes, let me know.
jocelynlf, maybe another time? I will have to look up the pub where you all met. We have a horrible pub vice and are always on the lookout for another one. We will have to see if your beer bottle collection can match DH's. I'm somehow doubting not...

Good morning!
Yes, I must be adjusting. I managed to sleep until 5 this morning! WooHoo!
Or...maybe it was that 20 ouncer! :o
Was wonderful to meet you guys. Always fun to put faces (and voices) to screen names and avatars. Thanks for coming out to play!
Thanks for the kind wishes for Terry, Mary. Continued healing to you, too. I really hope they throw the book at the driver and that things work out well for you both. (I told DH about your beautiful bike this morning - he was asleep when I tried calling last night - and we both mourn for it.)
Back into the salt mines of meetings and workshops.

On 2nd thought, 7rider, if you do wake up in the middle of the night - call Teigyr!!! (see her posting time!)...
Also, Teigyr - yeah, you guys would like Paddy's, f'sure.
Jocelyn gave 7rider quite a few tips about the So Lake Union neighborhood offerings, as well as the location of REI's flagship store...plus effusive suggestions to ride the S.L.U.T. - oops, streetcar
7rider, I'll be heading to SeaTac on Thursday evening, (Linda's Mom is coming in @9 - to visit her and help with Linda's dinner/silent auction fundraiser for our AIDS ride in NY this Saturday), so I can meet up for dinner again before you leave if that works...just lemme know.

7rider, it was great meeting you. Have a great time in Seattle, and please pass on our well-wishes for Terry and his family.
I would have felt intimidated amongst the Seven riders because it IS my dream bike after all.
I'm too much of a newbie to know any better. Except that ti is lustrous, and that Sevens are some pretty incredible bikes. Either way, I'm not planning on turning my Rodriguez into a rain bike anytimes soon, like MM_QFC's.
We will have to see if your beer bottle collection can match DH's. I'm somehow doubting not...
Probably not, I'm a lightweight these days. And the only bottle I keep is one of the last Rolling Rocks to come out of Latrobe. Kinda bummed I couldn't find one of those little old 7-oz. Pony bottles, though. Those were classic.

Greetings from Denver Airport, as I venture back east.
Dinner last night was very yummy. And thanks for treating, too!
My treat when you guys are in D.C.!
Hope your dinner party goes great tomorrow.
Thanks for welcoming me to Seattle, everyone. I hope next time I can get on a bike. Except for the looooong hours spent in meetings, it was actually a wonderful trip (with LOTS of food - which is a big reason for wanting to spend some time on a bike!!! ;)).
Until next time......
