If I could change one thing about my body it would be:

1. lower cholesterol
2. so I don't have a heart attack or stroke
3. my family would be glad I beat the genetic tendency toward the disease.

1. I'd be an 'pear' instead of an 'apple' - ANY and ALL extra weight goes to my belly as it is.
2. It's healthier, and if I dare gain more than 10 pounds, that extra weight on my stomach causes perpetual lower back pain...:(
3. My bf would love it, being a bottom/leg man ;)

1. I'd be 10 pounds lighter
2. So I could climb even better and race faster
3. "You don't need to be any faster!"

1. I'd be younger with the attendant benefits thereof.
2. That should be obvious
3. Well, don't you look good & How do you do that at your age?!

1. Take, and KEEP off the last 5-10 pounds.
2. I could bike and run faster.
3. You look great

1. I've always wanted to have the baby apron removed from my belly. No matter how skinny I am, it's there, pooching out like a beacon. Don't mind the hips or thighs, but that scarred up belly--I want it GONE.
2. Because it reminds me my youth was given away too soon.
3. Husband has always tried to make me feel selfish by saying I would be taking a risk with anesthesia, etc., but I've had lots of non-elective surgeries with no ill effects, and so now I think that's just about his fear (of losing me literally or or losing me to another man/life, which is not part of the plan and I wish he'd realize that!).

1) eyes - make them as sharp as an eagle's
2) blind as a bat
3) sure they'd love to see my eyes full size instead of microscopically reduced by coke-bottle glasses

I would have new lungs and a new heart to take care of any damage done by years of smoking (I quit in 2003.)

I would be faster and stronger on the bike.

No one would really notice as I am pretty "stalwart" and don't show when I'm winded. I just get slower.

1) I'd have my pre-disposition to heart disease removed, and the pre-disp to bi-polar would be nice too thanks. Hey, wait, that would probably screw up my motivation for biking so that I'd lose all the things I really LIKE about my body :p Ok, how about decent eyesight, and a waist while I'm at it?

2) and 3) Oops, got lost here. Er ok - I'd like to be able see the stars at night before I fall asleep on a camping trip.

Hey Tuckervill - I'm not usually a fan of cosmetic surgery, but you know what - I wish you could have that surgery done too. You have the best reasons.

I think it would have been much more productive to have had a mother who didn't hate her body and didn't lash out at me and call me names for being the same size that she was (since this is an exercise in fantastical things that will never happen...). then I wouldn't have wasted so much of my teens and twenties starving and feeling bad about my perfectly good body.

Now I'm very fat--but even fitter than I was in my twenties, and my family can like it or lump it, frankly.

1) If I could change one thing about my body, I'd make my appendages longer.

2) I have a long torso, and short arms and legs - if they were longer, I'd be more evenly 'distributed' and things would fit better (clothing, bikes, DH, etc... ;))

3) Everyone I'd know would be mighty impressed if I could do it! :p

I'm with deedolce.

1) I'd rather be a "pear" than an apple. Would like to lose the belly fat, which is where every extra pound goes.

2) It's healthier! And the fat belly looks like crap, especially because every other part of me is in good shape.

3) I don't think anyone else would even notice, except that I'd wear tummy revealing bathing suits maybe!

Fix the bad knee.

So, I could train as hard as I want, when I want...

They would say...Ut oh, now were are in trouble....

I think I have to second what GLC said..i am same as her-long torsoed and short legged. Keep my same stocky build but stretch out my legs..It would make what I have appear better.
Benefits would be, I wouldn't be the short one in the crowd, and would distribute my pear shaped body much better.
Family/friends could care less.

Well, I used to want bigger boobs when I was much younger.

Now that I'm nearing the 1/2 century mark, there are advantages of being naturally "small".

I wish my metabolism would be the same as it was in my 20's.

1. If I could change one thing about my body....it would be getting rid of my titanium plated jaw, and the constant nerve pain that has come with it for the past (almost) four years.

2. Because I'd be able to kiss my bf w/o pain, read my kids a full book outloud, sleep comfortably, wear hoodies again, and not have my helmet so tight that it's suction cupped to my head LOL (since I can't wear the straps.)

3. Everyone would be delighted, my kids could rough house, my fam/friends would be able to give me nice tight hugs without worry, and I'd be the most happy not living in pain! :D

Don't get me wrong, the pain does get highly aggravating but I have learned to deal and just think when it almost gets the best of me, "Any day above ground is a good day." And I'm above ground, 'tis a good day. :)

Ah, I'm sorry, milkbone. I don't have titanium in there, but I have TMJ issues. I'd been symptom free for a long time, but then last night in my sleep something went haywire (built up stress and PMS, I think) and the whole left side of my face was on fire. Couldn't touch my ear. Even my hair hurt. Woke me up, and I struggled to get even a little bit comfortable. If your life is regularly like my night, that is truly one giant bummer for you! I like your attitude about it, though!

um, Milkbone, may I ask why you have titanium in your jaw?

ps if we're really just fantasizing, I'd have a lush head of wavy thick hair that easily touched my butt. I'd toss it and complain about what a hassle it is to have hair like this, particularly in front of friends with dull, thin, hair that doesn't ever get long without looking like something a witch would have.

1) Banish assorted muscular aches and pains, especially an ongoing backache. (Workin' on it, with stretches and core exercises!)

Secondary wishes:

2) Eyesight that doesn't require glasses or contacts.

3) More fast-twitch fiber or whatever works to be a little speedier on the road and trails.

4) Less 'talent' for retaining tension from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. A better ability to let go, truly relax, AND sleep well. (Workin' on that too!)

5) More upper body strength. (Yep, workin' on it!)

6) Oh, and thick, shiny, naturally curly locks instead of baby-fine, straight tresses, LOL!

I would give my wish to someone else who was really in bad shape. :)

If I had to keep it for myself I would wish I had never abused my body when I was young and could have a second chance at caring for it well in my youth.

I'd like to have normal feet. They are so wide and bunioned, even the one that has had surgery is huge and ugly. I have to buy men's shoes. :(

And I'd like to be about four to five inches taller.

If I could change one thing about my body, it would be:

1. restored vision in my blind left eye.

2. I get along just fine, thankyouverymuch, with my one good right eye, but it would be nice to have a backup again. Perhaps in that case, I wouldn't need to wear glasses to protect my one good eye from damage, because I'd have 2!
What a concept!

3. My family would be mighty pleased, since they went through so much when I was a teenager going blind (thankfully it stopped at just one eye, at least for the last 23 years, and of that I'm incredibly thankful).

Aside from that, I'd like to have a strong torso and feel confident in a bikini. I've done it before, and it takes lots of Pilates (for me), but lately I've been slacking and going soft.

That makes me remember when I looked young and lithe and perfect in a bikini in my 20's....but my self image then was anything BUT confident. Now I have lots of lumps and bumps, wrinkles and imperfections, but I love my body and my inner spirit way more. :)

Karen

Tuckervill,

Yup, sounds about right, its the right side of my face though, the x-ray, ironically, looks exactly like a bicycle chain lining my jaw , then I have other plates and screws on the left side as well, but w/o the nerve damage.

My right side, chin to mid-jaw is constant - eating/kissing/talking/the slightest touch makes it "holy cow" worse... the top part to my ear isn't too bad as long as it doesn't get touched.. I chopped my hair b/c of the pain (wish I could grow it back out).

The docs tried all kinds of meds, I was a walking pharmacy for awhile, nothing worked, some made it worse, Duke offered some frankenstien surgery with a very small chance for any success, and I just wanted a narcotic/pill free life, so I told them all where to go and I'd just learn to deal, which I've done for the most part.

I forgot another wish --feet that don't need customized orthotics.

That's why I gave up wearing open-arched sandals.. oh well, small price when I'm on the bike too often anyway.

I could come up with a whole shopping list but top would have to be never having asthma again.

Why? Fairly obvious.

Would anyone notice? Possible not - it's all well under control, I just hate the thought of having to take medication every day for the rest of my life.

I must point out that it was mimi who had that great phrase, not me. I just hashed the quoting :o

back OT: I sure wouldn't change my LEGS! Grand things that they are, they carried me up 4 hill repeats today and I'm way pleased! I can live with my thighs gradually swelling out of all the (ok, two) cute tightish jeans I own.

I wouldn't mind having thick hair though. Real thick hair, not just hair that looks thick, but turns into a thin little rats tail when wet.

You say that, but trust me, you really don't want that! In the summer the only thing I can do with it is pull it up because it would just frizz and fro out if I left it down. Edit: When I cut my hair for Locks of Love last year, the woman commented that I had the thickest hair she'd ever seen. It's not the first time a hairdresser has told me that:eek:

If I could change one thing, I'd like to be ever so slightly taller.

Why? It's such a hassle not being able to reach anything, see things when in a crowd, never have a chair be comfortable, especially anything with a curve to the back because it never hits the right place, the list goes on. And it'd be nice to have the weight spread out a little more;)

Sure people would notice, in that they'd maybe stop making fun of me for being so short.

I hear you. My hair dries in 10 minutes flat. :) But it's curly, so it does the frizz up to a ball thing all by itself in damp weather, thick or not!

um, Milkbone, may I ask why you have titanium in your jaw?

Very long story, short version - back in 04 I rode motocross, got in a crazy wreck, broke my neck in 3 places dislocated 2 other vertabrae, broke first rib, crushed my jaw, etc etc along those lines, was on a vent for about a week ?? I'm lucky to be here and even luckier to be walking, and cycling :D

So my jaw is now titanium plated on the right side, with various other screws smaller plates on my left...

Any day above ground is a good day... I'm above ground, 'tis a good day. :)
