Shoe question

So there are MTB shoes in my size on www.chainlove.com ... but I don't have clipless pedals. I'm just curious - *could* you wear them on clip-ful pedals? It looks like there's something you have to do to make them clip in... and I had a pair of hand-me-downs once that I used on my pre-clipless pedals.

yes. you can just wear them. They will keep your feet rigid.
you don't need to put hardware in them, all you need to do is put duct tape over the screw holes under the insole insert thingy

I wore my new MTB shoes for the first time today, and I wore them with toe clips. My biggest fear was that the tread would get in the way and I wouldn't be able to get my foot out, but I had no issues there. I did have a harder time getting my foot in, although I'm not quite sure why (if I can get out, I should be able to get in). Other than that, no issues.

I wore my mtb shoes without clips. I had a traction issue but it was mild. The only REAL problem I had was that I bought the shoes on clearance and one if the cleat covers was loose at one end and the pedal actually wedged into the shoe somehow...so all that worry about being stuck to my bike with the clipless pedals and I managed to do it WITHOUT! :) :) I fell over. won't call it a wreck because I was standing still when it happened. didn't get hurt but I put duck tape over them after that. Oh, and within weeks switched to clipless altogether.

I have my road bike and wear mountain bike shoes. My males biking friends tell me I don't need to change to road bike shoes. What do you think?

+1 as long as your mtb shoes have hard soles. mine were a bit soft so I had to get road shoes to stop hot spots.

The real question is, could these shoes get trapped inside a fender?
