Launching of a new bicyclist

I rounded a corner on the bike path this morning and witnessed a grandfather just letting go of his grandson, who was about 5 or 6 and on one of the banana seat bikes. The boy was so wobbly, his face set in determination and concentration. The grandfather had the biggest smile.

It was such a magical moment and it brought me all the way back to my childhood experiences on bikes and the shear joy of just riding.

Thats why I ride a bike everyday to work...it makes me happy!

Awwww!! On my commute I see two different elderly residents walking their oh so cute dogs every morning.Makes me smile to see the little dogs. I also love the birds chirping right at sun up. My car drive is on a highway, no dogs and no birds there.

I convinced the PT who does my boot camp to take the pedals off his daughter's bike! (a la balance bikes) He said nothing's happened, yet, with her balance and riding, but she doesn't ride much to begin with.
