Does anyone have good suggestions for bike rental locations in Tahoe? I know I'm not going to be able to rent something as nice as my Ruby :( but I'd like to get something halfway decent. Preferably a place that rents both road and mountain bikes, as my hubby will want a mountain bike. Unfortunately, we don't have a way to get our bikes up there, unless we ride all the way!

Thanks in advance for your advice. :)

Well, just in case anyone else needs this info I thought I'd save you all some money for phone calls. Out of the 14 shops I called, 2 rent road bikes (as opposed to mountain or hybrid/comfort). They're supposed to get back to me on whether they have anything in my size.

Here are the shops:

Tahoe Sports Ltd.
4008 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
530-542-4000

Olympic Bike Shop
620 North Lake Tahoe
Tahoe City, CA
530-581-2500

Sorry, I didn't see this until today or I would have replied earlier. In Truckee there are 2 good shops that rent:

Paco's
11200 Donner Pass Rd (the Safeway shopping center)
877 532-8798
They carry Trek and Specialized

The Backcountry
They have stores in Truckee and Tahoe City

They have Jamis, Marin and a smattering of others.

The folks at the Truckee (and maybe the Tahoe City store, too) are very helpful and friendly. The folks at Paco's are knowledgeable, but a little more snobbish until they know you.

PM me if you need any other details.

Thanks roadie gal. :) We're staying near Zephyr Point, so I think we'll go with Tahoe Sports Ltd. this time. I'll keep those others in mind in case we decide to drive up that way though! We leave tomorrow morning and I can hardly wait! :)
