View Full Version : Blackburn MTN Air Pump: How to Attach to Bike?

I've had this pump laying around the ol' casa for a while. I originally got it for my moped which had a leaky rear tire; it was easier to pump up the tire before riding than it was to contemplate removing the rear wheel to replace the tube. When not in use, I just tossed it the moped's custom rear cargo carrier (translation: milk crate attached with zip-ties :p ).

Anyway, I thought I might use it as my on-board bike pump, but I can't figure out how it's supposed to attach. I think the holder is supposed to use the same mount as the water bottle cage, but this means the pump sticks out to the side. I haven't tried it yet, but I feel certain it's going to interfere with pedaling. Any ideas?

There's more room there, between the crankarm and the frame, than it looks like. I have side-mounted pumps on both my road bike and my hybrid and they fit fine. When I ride the hybrid in boot-cut jeans they do sometimes catch on the pump; in appropriate cycling clothes there's no problem.

You can still put a water bottle cage right over the pump mount.

Thanks for the info -- I'll try it. :)
